That Peach Bowl was my third year at VT. My GF and I made the trip, and that last-minute FG to win it was one of the great football moments of my life. Didn't plan ahead, though, and had a hard time finding a restaurant anywhere in Atlanta that had a free table on New Year's Eve. Ended up at Benihana, seated at one of those big hibachi tables with six strangers. They turned to us, said hello, and asked if we were there for the game. That's when we noticed they were all dressed in red and white, and were a little gloomy.
Dinner was very quiet.

I got over the Sugar Bowl victory, and subsequent theft of the trophy, as soon as I read that several Michigan players and coaches acknowledged that Danny caught that ball. I would rather have the victory than the trophy.

i'd recommend some type of chair - even if it's the cheapest you can find and only expect it to last a day. standing for a few hours while tailgating and then standing during the game might get a little old. cornhole/game, sunblock, f&b, and you should be pretty good to go. maybe a cell phone charger thing so you can have VThokieTim and Billdozer's videos playing for hours.
I am indeed in NE, but I will be in Blacksburg for the game.
I would definitely recommend checking out First Down, but a weekday night game could make it tough for DC residents.
It's surprising how few sports bars there are once you cross the Potomac. My favorite area bars for watching games are The Pug & The Argonaut. Just don't ask for a cocktail at The Pug.
Halftime Sports is under new ownership, so I do not know if they have improved or not. Also a new place opened on 6th & H over the summer.
Otherwise, I would probably head into Gallery Place and go to one of the places around Verizon Center.

Are you confusing fan speculation with coaching? I don't think anyone on our coaching staff goes into the Duke game with any sense of invulnerability. I certainly hope note. If some of our players sometimes take a game for granted, I don't think it's because they read on the Key Play that they were sure to win.
The real question is - should I wear orange or maroon at the bar? (In Richmond though, not DC)

Correct. I drank enough of that stuff in college and do so now very sparingly. I drink beer to to enjoy the taste, not to get drunk.

oh yes I remember that play well. wasn't McNabb throwing up on the sidelines so we called timeout (for some reason) right before that play so he could collect himself and make the play. classic choke. i think it was a bit later, maybe '97 or '98
