TBDBITL's Skull Session at French Field House probably draws more people than some football teams. One of my favorites was when John Glenn was there when he dotted the i. He said he was a Buckeye but had a soft spot for Navy and showed his Naval Astronaut wings. The crowd went wild.

I think the '04 team is the better comparison. I believe the '04 was one of our best and much better than '09 or '10. The defense of the latter teams just wasnt that great, they seemed like a patch work bunch. It was the post Adibi-Hall and Chancellor-Flowers days. They made due with what they had and I loved watching them play but '04 was on another level. Im not so sure that Jim Davis and J. Lewis were not as good as the current DT's. (I hope this years team ends up being much better, but that remains to be seen) Jim Davis was awesome and made plays at the biggest moments. We had a terrible game vs NC State in '04, but other than that, we had some real nice wins. Even the losses were respectable. We played USC and Auburn, the top two teams in the country, tougher than anyone else did.

Now as far as this year's team goes, I do believe this defense is right there with '04, maybe a bit better. The D-lines are about tit for tat, '04 had better linebackers, and the DB may be better this year. Offense and QB play is going to make all the difference for this season, but that is no secret. I see a season similar to '04.

second clip is I For d and there is maroon 15..hmm time to scour the roster..

zooming way in looks like thats a 17 on the helmet which would mean its shawne payne or the rock both who are db's and share same #

Good call - I see it now. Looked a few times but I didn't see that.

Makes sense that the kid wearing 15 isn't wearing pads - probably trying to make the team.

Joe, you can delete the thread- sorry for the mix-up!

Being an EX MV, I can tell you that what they do has very little to do with talent level or musicianship. Most decent college marching bands could put on a similar show to OSU's band. The major differences unfortunately are a combination of money, student involvement/interest and most importantly, the preferences of the administration/directors. Take Virginia Tech for instance, the man in charge is most interested in repetitive shows/tunes and sticking to what he's been doing the past couple decades (because its easy to make it look good). I can't tell you how many times fans would approach me in uniform and ask when we would play new songs or form noticeable shapes on the field. But I was more interested in all the free perks that came from being a college marching band member.

Not him. If you pause the beginning of the second clip, you see maroon 15!

He is a redshirt junior, but it is still kinda late. He played some defense in high school, but not so much as a senior I believe.

From the looks of that short clip, it doesnt look like that transition is going very smooth either. He has contributed on special teams, but he was a player all of us were looking forward to seeing be a big time play maker and so far it hasnt happened.

But, guess it is a good thing. Not like he was going to contribute on offense (knocks on wood) this year. Let's see what he's got.

Did this cat play defense in HS? All I remember from his recruitment is seeing a very athletic, fast, strong running QB. He was being recruited by VT as an athlete, if I remember correctly. For him to switch this late in the game, 3 weeks before kickoff of his senior year, is beyond me. This isn't as simple as him going from WR-RB-WR...this is a complete switch in dichotomy...could he even crack the two-deep? Wow.

The video sure would seem to indicate a change. I have not heard it discussed one way or another. Great catch!

sadly just another move for a highly touted/ranked recruit. WR,CB,RB,WR,CB maybe TE next? (Ducks)
