Huge. Great news, and it's awesome to see Whit squeezing some sponsorship money out of Cassell without having to name it something completely ridiculous. I actually think Virginia Tech Carilion Court sounds pretty good.

The problem we ran into with our old OL coach was that was almost exclusively how he recruited O-linemen. He'd take athletic TEs and fatten them up so they weren't athletic anymore, put them on the interior of the line where they hadn't played, and then neglected to actually teach them the position. Seriously, we've heard stories of freshmen offensive linemen coming in and being expected to know the entire playbook and steps and techniques first day of practice without ever being told how. Un-freakin-believable.

Agreed. The offense with Jones in seemed pretty feast-or-famine. He hit a bunch of big plays and got out of some sure sacks and at least a couple of safeties, but then he made some really bad errors as well and could have easily lost either of the playoff games. On the other hand, Barrett - even at times against VT - was a guy who got the offense going forward and reeled off a big run here and there while distributing the ball to his playmakers. Jones is scary on any given play as an individual, but Barrett makes the entire offense more difficult to defend.

Something we loved to do under our old o-line coach. Actually our RT last year started on the dline and our RT two years prior was a former TE. It's not all that uncommon as kids grow and develop outta high school.

I have been planning to do this for awhile now, but I wonder what OSU's scoring rate is after their first first down of a drive. Towards the end of last year it seemed as if we didnt go three and out we would score. Once we get that first first down is when we usually kick in the tempo offense and it seems like our offense is a boulder trucking down a mountain. Problem is when you run into a buzz saw defense like we did last year and our offense can't get off the ground. This is why I think Barrett starts. I think you're getting things crossed up between "power running game" and "power running formations." It's the difference between Clemson/OSU and Stanford/Alabama. All are power running offenses, but they accomplish that through different alignments. Loeffler absolutely wants to be able to run the football, but as French has pointed out, that's been primarily accomplished with a zone scheme with some man concepts mixed in since Searels got here. So no, I don't think Loeffler's offense will be a traditional "power running" attack (multiple TEs and a fullback in an I or offset I formation, primarily man blocking - at least that's what I think of when I think of power running), but he wants an efficient and physical rushing attack, using zone and man concepts, to move the chains, wear down a defense and open things up for big plays in the passing game.
I get that if he can really help the team that much he will play, like TT did, and we should get him ready to play, but asking him to learn a complex office in a few weeks is not realistic, and even if he is TT good, there are not many MV1's out there who would be drafted high enough to leave early. I really hope he is that good, but odds are he is not the best QB in the league after 2 years of playing. I'd rather have 4 years of starting as a possibility than bet the extra year he will leave early just to have him carry the ball a few times in the hope he gets more yards than Motley would. I have not seen him play, and the coaches have not even seen him take a D1 snap yet, and I will not be on that hype train till I and they have.

Whats the alcohol policy on and around campus? At OSU its techincally not allowed, however if you use solo cups you're good to go.
