I have to say that my strong dislike of Season 2 is not a reflection at all of Season 1. It's a reflection of good story telling in short season arcs. I've never seen The Wire, but from Sopranos to Deadwood to GoT to The Affair to The Killing to Breaking Bad, our standard for what good TV is has been dramatically raised with the move to cable for drama's. My expectations are high because there is a lot of good TV out there competing for my attention. I really like Vince Vaughn, but I was skeptical about his casting and it's proven to be much worse than expected.

It's not about Season 1. It's about being a good TV show.

You can keep telling a kid you want to give him a scholarship, BUT we need this and that. Ok the first time is motivation but once a recruit shows the commitment the school needs to also. If that means a conditional offer than maybe that's just what Tech needs to start doing.

And in this case, a 5* recruit, even a 4* recruit, can be given a scholarship right away. A player in the 99th percentile of high school players will generally pan out well

VT has got to move away from the current recruiting model used. 60% of players currently are instate and I'd bet more than half had planned to come to VT since middle school. It's not hard to recruit to players to their dream school. That has given VT a lot of freedom in holding back and only offering scholarships the way they do. But if you want to recruit out of state players and players that don't dream of playing at VT since middle school than you have to change how and when you offer kids.

Its definitely possible. Knowles has had an odd career, he scored a huge TD against GT in his first real playing time and returned a kick for TD that season at Carolina and has seemed to regress since then. I would have to say his kick return days are done after that stunt in the UVa game.
He's had moments that make you think he can be a good receiver, and with the opportunity there and this being his last season, he might make it happen. Fuller and Knowles were both track guys so hopefully it happens again. Imagine if Knowles could put together a season like Fuller had his Sr year.

This is the key reason I think we'll see him play this year. Lawson is 20. I think we'll only have him 3 years. I think Lawson competes with Motley and Durkin on running the Wild Turkey, and if either Lawson or Durkin are as good as Motley, then they should run the Wild Turkey (so we could keep Motley as an experienced backup #2 QB healthy in case Brewer gets banged up). The worst case scenario is what happened last year at UVA, when both Brewer and Motley got injured and they almost had to throw Ford in the game unprepared. Fortunately for us, Brewer is a super tough dude and was able to get back in the game and win it for us. Also, if Lawson gets some reps this year then I think he'd be more prepared to compete with Motley and Durkin next spring, which is win-win for us in 2016.
