The loss of Bosa on the defensive line will test Ohio State's depth on the unit, one that head coach Urban Meyer was not happy with during spring drills.

The Buckeyes have a wide breadth of offensive playmakers, especially in the passing game, but much of it is largely unproven due to youth or injury. It, too, will be tested against a stingy Hokie defense that held the Buckeyes to just 327 yards of offense in its 35-21 victory last September.

Bosa and Marshall are significant losses. Marshall didn't have a terrific game vs VT last season, however he was the second more prolific WR (and a threat on jet sweeps) returning for the Buckeyes. He is more of a down the field threat than Michael Thomas (however Thomas has the ability to take a slants and run through tackles for touchdowns, as he did against Michigan State and the Hokies.)

Bosa speaks for himself. He was dominant on the edge in shutting down the running game, and he forced the turnover on a Michael Brewer TO that turned the game back to Ohio State momentum wise. Ohio State dominated the Hokie running game (the only big run was a botched blitz by the Buckeyes for a Marshawn Williams TD). Ohio State now only has DT Adolphus Washington as a DL starter that played significant reps against the Hokies on their defensive line.

Potential replacements for Bosa include r-freshmen Darius Wade, r-freshman Sam Hubbard, and sophomore Jayln Holmes, a former Hokie DE recruit from Norfolk's Lake Taylor High School.

It reduces your taxable income, not $1500 less in taxes paid. Many people consider heavy amounts of donations to charities yearly to keep them in certain brackets or for just the purpose of generosity, so knowing that you're paying $350 for the seat and donating $1650 for the ability to buy that seat carries a different connotation than paying $2000 for the seat itself.

Not a tax man, but a charitable donation doesn't necessarily mean the person paid $1500 less in taxes, just that his income was reduced by it somewhat. I am certain we have an accountant or two around who can say more confidently, but that's my understanding of these deductions.

This will get very interesting, but let's remember, it's still July. Many things can, and will, change between now and gameday. Injuries and other issues will probably arise for both teams as Fall practice picks up. This certainly helps us but we'll then hear how Bosa is this year's Braxton Miller and how they would have beaten us if they had him.
