Anytime you have a secret council whose membership is a secret making decisions that are kept secret that directly impact others... that doesn't sit well with me. Reavis could very well be in the wrong and the dismissal was justified, but until those who dole out the punishment are willing to publicly defend why the decision was made, I'll side with the punished.
Sitting through 30 years worth of games in Lane Stadium will get after your hearing.

# | Frank Beamer Hopes Virginia Tech's Next Head Coach "Would Come From Our Staff" See, this is something that often gets overlooked when talking about Bud. Yes, he has interviewed for HC positions before. But when it comes down to hiring their next coach, don't people think that ADs at other schools interviewing Bud have it in the back of their mind that as soon as Beamer retires, Bud would leave them in a heartbeat to be the next HC at VT. If I were an AD with no ties to VT and I were choosing between Bud and some other well-qualified coach, I would probably go with the other guy, since I would have a better chance of him sticking around for more than a year or two. Most Power 5 teams do not see themselves as stepping stones and hire accordingly. So, in my opinion, for the last few years and until Beamer actually retires, Bud has interviewed or willl interview with one hand tied behind his back.
Well damn, being on the field at Lane for every home game for decades on end would mess anyone's hearing up.
And the fans. Don't forget the fans. Feels pretty damn tragic from my house, too.

Before we barrage about how unfair it is to one of our beloved players, let's not jump to conclusions about what the university did. I will withhold judgement regarding if the student council did / did not do the right thing until I hear all the facts of the case -- which most likely will never come out, so in which case I will not judge this situation period.

As far as comparing the two instances, I think we should recognize that one had to do solely with football, and as such, it only comes under the purview of the NFL, whereas the Hardy incident doesn't really impact the game on the field. The product the NFL sells is football. By cheating, Brady cheapened the product, and his company reprimanded him. Greg Hardy set a bad personal example, but didn't call in to question the quality of the game on the field. His actions did reflect negatively on the league though, and for that, he's being suspended 4 games. It's not the NFL's job to punish people for crimes. It's there to ensure the quality of the league as it relates to football. In that respect, Tom Brady should receive at least the same league punishment as Greg Hardy, though I'd argue they should be harder on Brady.
Just rewatched the video....he does have hearing aids. You can see them when he's checking into the hotel and getting into the car at the beginning.
If they file a lawsuit it will be public pretty fast at that point.

I work in the legal field so just be aware that everyone's attorney is always going to portray their client as a model citizen. I am not saying the school is right or wrong and the same for revis.
does it suck yes. but if revis wanted the info to come out his attorney could put out a statement. he could have signed a request of vt asking the info remain confidential which is why vt hadn't said anything

Oh well...we have Torrian Gray and Bud Foster figuring out the replacement.
I don't know if this still holds true, but I'm fairly sure that RAs used to have access to the Student Conduct database as they/we were the ones who entered the conduct issues in, typically. It's possible, though VERY much an abuse of privilege, that a current RA could look up what happened if they had the right information. No promises there.
