Yeah, if they didn't pull the trigger when they did, I'm sure Cowherd would have escalated things before leaving. Funny thing is I think he blamed Deadspin for his undoing since they posted something right after he originally said it. Of course they love to fan the flames over at ESPN anyway.
In an industry and profession like his, it's hard to actually give 2 weeks notice and expect things to go smoothly on both ends. The owner of the network (whichever one) will watch him like a hawk and nit-pick on anything said to make it uncomfortable and the person leaving, who has cut the ties, has no interest in keeping things in anymore so anything goes. Bad situation. At least this occurred during the off-season so he can get his feet squared away at Fox for another Zima rant before football season.
Agreed, this is the first somewhat negative article I have read in years from a reputable site.
Only way this would have been better is if it was written by the person with the Signature, "Period. End."

I went flounder fishing yesterday, again near The Cell, this time with a loluvawahoo guy. No wagers, but I did outfish him. It was his boat, so I didn't gloat, but football wasn't the main topic of discussion, to say the least. He did try the tennis, baseball, basketball angle, but we're too close to the fall for that stuff to stick. He's not very confident in their coming season and is very eager to replace the Timecop. I told him how much we all wanted them to give him a few more years to learn his job.
Edit: Forgot to add, both wahoos on board claimed, seriously, that they'd never even heard of Zima.

At this point, it looks like Tino will pick the Twerps on Friday and Patterson will pick Tech on Saturday. I think that once the staff figured that Tino was likely heading to College Park, they went harder after Patterson.
