Am I really the only one who was looking at 3 proven tight-ends and thinking...I remember when Stanford thrashed us in a bowl game using 2 and 3 tight-ends sets...??? I want them all on the field, and I'm not worried about the depth of WR's. With (what's the terminology? 1-2 set I want to say, meaning 1 RB and 2 TEs) a single back two tight-ends set, you've got the ability to put whoever in at receiver, and the defense is still guessing...run or pass? run or pass? Heck, they're gonna buy the run hard with "other" receivers out there, all crossing routes and let brewer find the open short throw for a first down. And finally, those tight-ends can definitely help an oline that is still admittedly inexperienced, but notably more athletic. The tackles just have to take the inside guy, and let the TE slow the outside guys. Yes, I am drinking the koolaid, and the last time I did was TTs senior year...
Year after year, we hear Frank&Company saying something about using our tight ends more, maybe that trend has started to become reality. As for snagging wide receiver recruits, I agree that until we can show that we actually value the passing game for real, we're going to struggle to land them. I have harped on this for more than a decade, and it seems like we almost get going, but again, maybe we're actually beginning to see the light. Either way, it looks like we have a good crop of pass catchers now, hopefully Frank will loosen the reigns a bit and let them play too.
And you assume that was because he was old?
To get ready for anOSU, I'm taking the wife and kids to the beach at the end of the summer. Therefore I can make the case to be in town on Sunday night to "beat traffic" on Monday because you know Blacksburg is going to be wild in advance of that game.
My wife just dropped a dagger on me, said her grandmothers 85th birthday is the Saturday after the NCState Game. My first thought was "I can make it back to D.C. from the burg if I leave at 6 am Saturday". As I was formulating that thought my wife gave me a "Don't even think about it look". Ah, marriage.
Also, Jim Beam.
PSU recruiting rankings, aside from one year (2006) their recruiting was awful down JoePa's final stretch.
2008: 43
2007: 24
2006: 6
2005: 25
2004: 29
2003: 93
Elijah Craig 12 and W. L. Weller 12 in the house!
I thoroughly enjoy our fun with GIFs, except for when they make me laugh at work and people around me ask what's so funny.
That being said, particularly long and GIF-heavy threads will lock up my phone for several minutes while everything loads, so I wouldn't be adverse to an option to block/hide/disable them in those instances.
Sooooo I assume this makes Brose Baskets immediately eligible for the NCAA tournament right?
If you don't like gif's, get a Chrome or FireFox extension that blocks .gif files. They really aren't that hard to find, and I have embedded the links to these extensions, if you want them.
If you're using Internet Explorer, you can disable as follows:
- Process 1:
- Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced
- Scroll down to Multimedia
- Remove Check from Play animations in webpages
- Process 2:
- Let Webpage Load
- Press Esc
I love to sing-a. Like the moon-a in the June-a in the spring-a....
Threads like this show that some people will just never be happy.
We have a site that doesn't take itself too seriously. It provides really good information, and provides breaking news about a variety of issues, and yet somehow hasn't devolved into an overly racist and sexist cesspool that other places with a fair deal of autonomy has become. We police ourselves, and do it really well.
I think we can get all the recruiticorns if Beamer just makes a few small changes:

Or make a deal with the devil like Saban
The speculation for Beamer's retirement has never been as strong as it is now, especially since for the first time the retirement might not be his decision to make. Spurrier is getting the same treatment. It isn't bullshit
It's all in the looks. If someone asked me in high school how old those two are I wouldn't know, but I would have guessed the age gap of at least 10 years. Maybe Beamer should dye his hair...no one will know...
The raised fist design also reminds me of Revolution Brewing in Chicago, and that association is a big plus in my world.

I couldn't agree more. I HATE hearing that shit. Joe Paterno was freakin
85 when he was fired and I don't recall anyone saying Penn State's recruiting
was suffering because of it.
A 6'4 athletic wonder that plays DE with a 4.6 40 and 40 inch vertical to bat down passes or catch TD's on the goal line. Hell it would be like having our very own JJ Watt. Sign him up.
It does seem like the same conversations are had recurrently on here. But that's just an issue of several posters having their own strongly formed opinion and voicing that opinion in regards to whatever the topic of conversation is. I have no issue with that, so long as nobody pulls a Bengal and goes from discourse to full thermonuclear meltdown without provocation.
Here you go - (NSFW: Language)
I thought so too, until Ellen Pao got the axe and the discussion heated up of Reddit clamping down on extreme offensive content. Some of those subreddits...wow.
Are you really comparing saban and beamer? Saban hasn't had any recent surgeries and had his energy level questioned for years. He also still has his program in the national title hunt every year, which is clearly not the case for us.
It's where you find the dregs of humanity. Whenever you want to lose hope in the human race, just take a peek at them.
I'll also add, it's the offseason, so there is not enough substantial football content to generate serious discussion. The forums kind of overrun the place from January-August, and understandably so. Things will lock back on target come next month with fall workouts begin, and the last two weeks of August will probably be more tension-filled than a John Woo movie.

Really wish Deon Newsome was more than just a jet sweep guy for the offense
