I don't know the nuts and bolts of it, but the tracker is already tailored. It shows me what comments have been posted since the last time I looked at the post. Could it be as simple as just changing the criteria for highlighting and listing new comments (instead of just new, it would be new AND X+ guru points)? Also, he's already made it so that when I collapse threads, they stay collapsed across devices so that would seem to be tailored to the user as well.

I agree that this is probably not worth doing and I'm not even lobbying for it, just throwing ideas out there for discussion. Who knows, maybe in all the back and forth, Joe might get an idea that actually is easy to implement and can make another demographic happy, thus bringing more users to the site.

I always wanted a 40" vertical. I hate you Brock Miller. s/

Excellent write up. Really intriguing prospect coming out of nowhere.

The part of the article that features the coach's opinion caught my attention. Coach Watkins seems to know what he is talking about. Miller, as his coach says, sounds like someone that could be really good if he lands at a place that will develop him properly. I know a lot of people want guys that have already specialized on one position in HS, and I lean that way myself, but you can't ignore the value and potential here.

I don't even want to know about stars or other offers with this guy. Sign him up.

"Brock probably had 20 or more offers when Coach Wiles came to see him, but Virginia Tech does it right, they don't offer every kid they come across," Watkins said. "He said he had to go back and have everyone sign off, and then they'd make a de

I hope the next coaching staff keeps this philosophy, would hate to see VT turn into offers that are not real offers.

I feel I speak for Joe when I say "holy hell that would be a pain in the ass." Actually, your first and second points are probably fairly straightforward considering Joe has already done the work to create a rating system and can add colors to posts based on that rating. To add in an additional rating and check it for coloring posts, that should be simple enough. The logic is there, it just needs a few additional features. The 4th point falls in line as well since GuitarMan can already do that with Turkey legs. The third request is where it gets tricky. You go from having a universal rule to a rule on an individual user basis. Which means the servers have to monitor all 3,000 or so members and their preferences to provide a different page based upon their preferences. That's the big leagues and while TKP is awesome, I wouldn't want to touch something like that if I were Joe. Just my $0.02 from a coder POV

The must think it's FedEx Field, or something. I'm sure they'll sell out their allotment of visitor tickets and request more, but then they'll just have to purchase from people who are just out to make some money from selling their tickets.

I really hope there are only a few who would be willing to sell to Ohio State people.

I can agree from the PT standpoint, but if you were also looking at how WRs historically have done in VT's offenses how excited would you be? Until we have some WRs blow up yardage wise it's going to be hard to sell the top guys IMO.

Let's look at Clemson for example (mainly because they land stud WRs every year):
2014: mike Williams 1030, artavis scott 965
2013: Watkins 1464, Bryant 828
2012: Hopkins 1405, Watkins 708
2011: Watkins 1225, Hopkins 961

It's easy to sell the WRs when you have a history of getting them the ball and an OC that shows how he is going to utilize them.

Nice. Got to watch the Texas game at home, then the next year was in MSG for Blues Traveler!

Personal opinion, but in general, the meat of the football discussion occurs inside the body of an article, especially those on the front page of TKP. It's fairly easy to see ahead of time which threads will become full of gifs, humor, and OT posts just based upon the body or title of the original post. If it's going to be a bother though, follow rule #1 of the Internet and don't look at the comments. Most people commenting there are the regular posters as you mentioned, but they are commenting because this is a site around a community and most people enjoy humor. But as has been stated, if it bothers you, look into some of the ad-blockers and other mods for your browser to disable anything ending in ".gif." They exist so that people like Joe don't have to do countless hours of work to appease a minority among the group.

The clemson game I didn't think we would lose. I remember that I felt they were over-rated and wouldn't be able to handle our defense. Adibi and Hall crushed that team. Great LB duo.

I prefer the grain alcohol. Pass the Everclear, the old kind that used to be 190 proof. Nothing says lunchpail defense like burning the ole esophagus

I think Lawson will be far enough along and has the arm big enough to be hitting Ford all over the field, including the deep ball. Ford put of 700 yards as a true freshman. I only see improvement on that if they keep slinging the rock. I still think it will be Ford, or Bucky if he is still around and plays wide a lot more.

Who remembers the JOOP house? It has also been demolished, but it was right along Green Street near the end where it runs into the trail? Almost as sketchy as the crackhouse.
