Chad ain't leaving SMU anytime soon, that boat has sailed.
Can we add Chad Morris to this list?
UVa would be a very long rebuild.
Their administration doesn't know what it takes to build a program. They're under the impression that 'if you build it, you will be good'. In basketball in the commonwealth, when nobody else was really spending money, yet, and in baseball, where NOBODY was spending money, sure. But in an environment where EVERYONE is spending absurd levels of money to compete, you need more than a splash hire and fancy facility, you need a football centric culture that can sustain momentum and not collapse when the going gets tough. We're nearing the point where an entire generation of fans will have come and gone since the last time that UVa was legitimately good at football. We're entering an age where the parents of recruits don't remember the last time UVa football was relevant. That is going to do so much long term damage to their chances of legitimately rebuilding the program. Can they? Sure, but its going to take a 5 year rebuild at a minimum, to completely bolster the roster, and even that assumes a new coach comes in and immediately puts together talented and deep recruiting classes. And that also assumes the fanbase will be willing to wait around long enough for it to work. Thing is, after their success in basketball and baseball, I am not so sure that fanbase is willing to sit around and wait for the process to work.
^This. I greatly appreciate everything you do. Thanks man
ok, here's my suggestion (probably completely unfeasible due to effort/result ratio):
- A parallel rating system based on intelligence of the post. Funny? Give a leg. Insightful? Give a guru point (or whatever we want to call them). Utterly lacking in any coherent content? Take a guru point.
- Add some colors beyond the current grey/yellow/green/fuzzed out. They can be used to denote particularly insightful/helpful posts (orange?). This will help people skim to intelligent posts. Bonus points for Joe if he can add a shortcut key that only jumps to new orange posts.
- Have a setting in your profile to automatically collapse any comments with fewer than X guru points. On the tracker, posts won't be highlighted unless the new comment meets the criteria.
- The moderator can punish anyone trying to abuse the system by serially awarding guru points for stupid stuff
Like I said, probably not worth doing, but, in theory, this could make everyone happy.

# | Safety Devante Smith Becomes Hokies' First 2017 Commit, Joining Slew of Stonewall Jackson HS Alums And most impressive of all will be that he's a 2017 recruit playing in a 2016 collegiate football game.
they don't need cheap, they have plenty of money.
That program is a sleeping giant. Very good facilities, excellent brand recognition, great location. If you want kids with academics, they can do that. If you want to recruit 757, they can do that.
All of my A-List for VT HC candidates: Shaw, Patterson, RichRod, Richt, Fitzgerald, Dantonio, Mora.....these are all guys who UVA could attract as well.
and those 1995 helmets will always, ALWAYS be my favorite design.
In fact, going back and watching the Hokies in the 1995 Sugar Bowl, so many things were different. Torrian Gray was the rover, but mostly aligned to the wide side of the field like the whip does now. The whip linebacker (Brandon Semones) aligned to the boundary. William Yarbourough and the two corners played some three deep stuff. Even the defensive ends flipped. Cornell Brown aligned to the wide side. Hank Coleman aligned to the boundary.
You're right, we don't know the effort.
But we know how good it is when we see the result.
I am not sure if that is something that is communicated from the sidelines. A bunch probably depends on the coverage. A spill call would make much more sense if the rover is playing inverted cover 2 and is already flying up to cover the short flat (as an example.) Part could be pre-determined based on the personnel and blocking scheme of the offense. If you have a big back who isn't as nimble or athletic when forced to move laterally, you would call more spill calls and get him moving to the sideline. With a quicker back, perhaps having a shorter distance to cover by containing the edge forces him to cut back inside with the big trees. I don't have the statistical information to back this up, but I would bet that the Hokies spill plays much more often when the safeties align deep, and when they play up near the line like Jarrett did, they would force more.
Years ago (back when Torrian Gray was an All-Big East rover, the rover lined up like Deon Clarke did in the Bear front, and the backer stayed in a normal linebacker alignment. That was some interesting football.
gotcha!
I think he means every other coach in other sports
UVa got Quin Blanding the same year they got Kamara.
I really like Blanding, and find UVa a waste of his considerable talent.
agree 100% PJ Fleck here would be nasty... but UVA def could pick him up for sure and it would be an easy/no brainer HC hire IMO. Could possibly be had on the cheap and like you said can recruit, is young and seems to get the locker room going.
If UVA hires P.J. Fleck we may be in a world of hurt. I really hope that they go after another FCS school Head Coach. PJ Fleck is a good recruiter and a energetic, great young coach. Hell he would be one I would love to look at when Frank hangs it up.
So are you going to make a separate OSU hype video or just make the 2015 video feature extended hype for labor day?
but with a new hire at hC those coaches would most certainly not be there?? New coach almost always cleans staff regardless.
This is just the news that makes me want to head to thesabre.
I wonder how many are at their desks doing Archie Bunker gestures...

That's what I'm saying Miami already pulls the talent they just need a coach that can get it to work.
UVA would be a 3-5 year rebuild. thoroughbred connections would be gone real quick and UVA isn't a football first school. I would/could see them hiring one of the lower FBS guys ala P.J. Fleck and letting him run it for 10 years
Miami could be a 1-2 year rebuild if they get the right people in charge.
because every other coach at UVA is really, really, really good.
They are quite good at hiring coaches, except their last football hire. Their next hire will be a good one. I'd rather London win 6 games and get to a bowl and stick around for another year.
I'm with you on that one-remember when we were all sad that Groh got fired and we didn't think they could follow up that gem with another one...until they delivered a clown like London to the ACC? Fear not, I fully believe they can do it again. Whoever is doing the hiring over there, give them a raise.

oops, sorry. I mixed up the ACC schools where you can get a PHd in ACD (arrogance, condescension, douchebaggery)
