Maybe my perspective is skewed because I work two out of three weekends, on evening shift.
But my kid arrived in late September 2012. So, between the time off for baby leave (which I split into two parts), regular weekends off, conveniently timed night games, and then Thanksgiving, I only had to work during one game -- and it was against Austin P.

I think I'd be quite about the lack of a national title, I think VT haters remind me of it enough. Having the most wins without a NC would only serve to exacerbate the chatter.

I will be talking about that closer to game time. The rest of my pre-camp articles are going to be about VT, not their opponents.
I just got promoted, and in the Army the more rank you get the more you actually have to work. So, my summer is flying by which is awesome right now. The downside is work will not subside during the season and I'll have to DVR a few games and will myself not to check twitter and convince asshole friends not to send vague text's about the game.
I'm very interested in seeing how our offense matches up with their defense. Any insights?

I hate to sound like I'm calling the loss sour grapes but I think if we hadn't lost to the Hokies we wouldn't have made those necessary improvements and would have lost later in the season to Penn State, Michigan State, or Minnesota. But on the other hand when I think about the VT game, Elliott's lack of touches is what I regret most about the loss. If VT wins again this year you can bet it won't be for that reason.

I usually start sniffing glue around this time to kill off the summer. That or start a house project that I won't actually finish for a number of years.

I feel like this is a dumb question, but why would MSU be so passive after giving a good blueprint on how to stop OSU from 2013? Bama I assume just thought they could do it their way and didn't adjust to what Foster did, but MSU is kind of a mystery to me.
And, VT's linebackers were fitting immediately/ shooting gaps at the snap rather than flowing. Michigan State was less aggressive than the 2013 Big Ten championship game and they paid for it. Oregon was the worst offender, often only playing 5 defenders in the box. Elliott, not surprisingly, went crazy.
As crazy as it sounds, I feel better about VT vs TOSU than I do about the Pitt game. TOSU is still a favorite, however I think the Hokies matchup really well, especially if Motuapuaka and Reavis play well.
Offense is the crap shoot. VT's passing game is well situated to take advantage of the style of coverage Ohio State plays. However, they will need to generate much more in the running game. Normally, you don't win when you don't run the ball a lick.
Looks like a big difference in those early clips was the fact that those defenses had safety support coming in late. VT had safeties lined up in the gaps at the line of scrimmage.
New best name for a kicker incoming? Jackson VanSickle?

Hate to break it to you, but your stats are not from the correct game against Nebraska. You're thinking of 2008, when we played in Lincoln — I'm referring to the 2009 game at Lane.
In 2009, we ran 37 times for 86 total yards. RMFW ran for 107 on 21 carries, but Tyrod ran for -22 yards (sacked 4 times) on 9 carries. Tyrod went 12-27 for 192 yards and his yardage was buoyed by the sideline bomb to Danny Coale and the 11-yard pass TD pass to Roberts.
Suh got his hands on a number of balls — more than I can recall any single defensive player in a game against the Hokies. Sure, Tyrod's height didn't help, but Suh was disruptive as hell. Regardless, putting up decent rushing numbers and a solid QBR isn't indicative of a defensive player's minimal impact on a game.
Suh finished with 8 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 4 passes defended. Was it a Dadi-versus-Pitt or a ManBearPig-versus-GT game? No, but it was frustrating as hell to watch from the east stands.
