At a crowded bar, slugging a girl is taboo, regardless of who made initial contact. Particularly if you're the one who is trying to build a football career.

Yeah I gotta disagree with you here. For starters, regardless of what the woman did, the only way I hit a woman is in a legitimate self defense situation. I don't have a problem with arm holding, and I don't have a problem with restraint, but he hauled off and knocked the piss out of that girl. I know she "hit" him first, but at that point just turn around and walk away. I don't think he was in much danger of getting his ass kicked. He blatantly knocked the shit outta her because they were arguing, she tapped him on the nose and it made his eyes water. He lost his cool and bam. No way in hell you can say he was in the right or the girl deserved it. She may not be innocent, but c'mon man. Call her a name to save face and walk away.
Both parties are at fault, which should not be viewed as an attempt to excuse either. As others have said, don't hit other people, period.

The creator of this gif definitely has an aim of telling only half the story and making him look like the bad guy. If you watch the video, he's holding her arm because she made a fist and threatened to punch him with that arm. Then she (according to the article at the Tallahassee Democrat) kneed him in the midsection and punched him before he hit her. I'm sorry, but woman or not, anyone who kicks a guy in the junk and punches him in the face has earned retaliation. She definitely appears to be the aggressor here and should be prosecuted at least as strongly as he is.

She gave the drunk Amy Schumer swing, and he unloaded a full-out punch to her head while holding her arm. It's not an offsetting penalties situation.
