Well....I have to draw the line somewhere.

Johnston will not have a schollie for next year so there is 1 more you are missing.. it was truly a last minute gift determined in early august 2013.. your math does not include this.

All scholarships are year to year, not just Johnston's. Keep in mind, we had one open scholarship before Buzz's arrival. With Thompson departing, that put us at two for next year (once paperwork is completed).

So, presuming all the possibles do come to VaTech, the math is - JUCO gets the open scholarship. Then, Malek Harris would get Thompson's scholarship. Then, if - IF - there is anyone else who decides to not enroll or return, then Sandy Cohen could pick that one up. Even if no one else leaves or decides to not attend, somebody might 'walk on' for one year, then get their scholarship. That's presuming all three do decide to attend here.

It will work out. remember, every year in football we recruit 'extra' players, and it always works out. The same will happen here.

Yes, Will Johnston will not be on schollie next year. In no way intended to be disrespectful, he was thrown a schollie at last minute last July/August timeframe by staff.. Dontae Clark was not admitted and they gave it to WJ. This was confirmed at the JJ camp.. no way Buzz extends the generosity and prior staff would not have either if they had time to sign a new kid and get him admitted.. the word was they helped Johnston for 1 yr only.

I don't think you're allowed to post 'aOSU' when referring to Ohio State, they get very upset about that. To be correct, you need to post 'anOSU'.

What happens with Will Johnston? Can they take away his scholarship and relegate him back to walk-on status? I remember they did that to Jared Abbadarus when Russell Wilson transferred to Wisconsin...if so that's a third scholarship Buzz can play with.

Maybe Cohen could arrange to have someone call his cell phone when he meets with the new coach to ensure he got his release...

I know...I've hated aOSU longer than the SEC..mostly because this love fest over the SEC isn't that old. I actually found it really amusing when florida beat aOSU for the championship in football and basketball in the same year.

it annoys me that SEC teams keep winning...I'm tired of hearing about them in football, I really don't want to hear about them in basketball too :(

And then there is this:

Although Marquette signee Sandy Cohen tweeted Saturday night that he had been released from his scholarship, interim athletics director Bill Cords said Sunday morning that wasn't the case.

After Cohen's tweet, Cords called the 6-foot-6 forward from Seymour to reiterate Marquette's all-sports policy that no student-athlete receives a release following a coaching change until he or she has the chance to speak with the new coach.

Also interesting is that Cohen still hasn't retracted the tweet or issued a clarification on Twitter.

To be fair, JJ had two four stars coming to campus. If the rumors are true of Buzz having two more scholarships than we could have four four stars coming to campus assuming Buzz brings Cohen and Harris. I still haven't seen anything saying Harris has been released from his NLI. Word on the street is that Marquette is going after Ben Howland as their new coach who is no slouch. He might keep some of theircommits if that happens soon. I would rather see Buzz convince Satchel Paige-Pierce to come with Cohen. Give us another big man option down low.

I agree with everything you said...to be honest, I joined this site right around the russell athletic bowl and well, I thought this screen name would be funny...if Joe will allow it, i wouldn't be opposed to changing my name (assuming I get to keep my turkey legs of course, haha)

Fixed, thanks to the edit function! It was primarily a joke about Buzz' work ethic, any way. Evidently, our esteemed AD does not waste time, either. He's managed to inject attention and enthusiasm in short order!
