I would love Tommy Amaker from Harvard. He has a prove. History of taking teams to the post season, has coached at a school similar to tech (Michigan) comes from the Coach K coaching tree, is from Virginia (falls church) and has proven himself at Harvard. Definitely my top choice.

Not necessarily someone, but something is forcing 100% of the girls in the industry to be there, either consciously or subconsciously.

With all due respect, this is a statement that is so vague that it loses all meaning. Arguably, everything that everyone does is because they were forced "either consciously or subconsciously".

These are the kind of statements that groups use when making arguments against things they don't like on a moral ground. By stating that all members of the sex trade are involved only because they are incapable of making a better decision on their own, an organization begins to lay the ground work for outlawing things like porn and strip clubs... for the benefit of the paid workers.

Now I don't think it's in anyone's best interest to be a porn star, but I also don't think it's in anyone's best interest to play football at UVA. However for some football players maybe it is best if they go to UVA and get immediate playing time at an ACC school.

And maybe, for some women, they can make more money and better provide for their families by working in the sex trade than at other places. There are plenty of strippers who make more money in a week then they would if they picked up shifts at a waffle house.

You are right on target. People seem to think that their own set of morals is the only one. She is very vocal about how it makes her feel empowered. If she it makes her happy, who are you to judge?

TOTS over the summer is awesome. Cornhole, beef brisket, fried green beans and rails is a potent combination.

Amaker's wife is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Vanderbilt and did her postdoc fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Impressive.

  • She was a professor of psychology at Seton Hall during his tenure there;
  • She then went on to become the Associate Dean of Students at Michigan and was Chair of their Mental Health Work Group;
  • She is currently the Director of the McLean Hospital's College of Mental Health Program, while serving as an Instructor in Harvard's Psychology Program.

While I would argue she has a pretty damn good gig right now, she also did at UM. On the surface she would appear to be a talented Doctor that earns her positions wherever her husband goes. If things were to go in that direction, we would be lucky to add both Tommy and Stephanie to the Hokie Family.

Cool your jets Mr. Offended. We're doing exactly what you're doing - voicing what we believe based on our personal opinions and beliefs. No need to go around trying to disprove what those say when they don't necessarily agree with her decision.

Cronin has done good work in Cincy but he still wasn't able to make them a dominant team in the Big East when it was a power house. Exit most of the good teams, Cincy goes to 1st in the American Conference this year, tied with Louisville. Best finish in the seven years in the Big East was 4th place. Finished 9th or worse five out of seven years. This is a concern because the quality teams he had challenges with beating regularly over there will be the same kind of environment he would be in at Tech. Louisville would be here the same time he would, Pitt and Syracuse are foes he knows, and Duke, LOLUVA, UNC would replace UConn, Georgetown, and Villanova so we could end up on the outside looking in all over again.

You're absolutely right. Frank's has the best variety of selection on beer and they have Tap Takeovers consistently. Ommegang, Dogfish Head, Sixpoint, and Stone are just a few breweries than have come through for tap takeovers.

I just can't see someone feeling empowered by showing off themselves naked to thousands of viewers.

Models and actresses are often naked for thousands of viewers and are often considered to be role models for young girls. I think you mean "having sex" to which I would say that is a something that you subjectively decide for yourself and cannot suppose onto others.

I can't say that her reasoning is correct because I don't know her, but if she chooses to pay her way through school with porn then does it really matter? It's her life and her decisions. It doesn't impact me, you or anyone else not involved with her personally. She, as with anyone, has the right to do as she wishes so long as it's legal and whether you support/understand her or not, shouldn't need to explain her decision or go through a Scarlet Lettering of any kind.

people have questioned my decisions in my life. I've made mistakes and I've made correct decisions, but they're mine to make. Not anyone else's.

Since we can't turkey leg posts, I kinda want to just go to every ltrepeter2000 comment I see and give it a turkey leg.

Praise also be unto the Bird Jesus, as well as John the Zaptist, as well as their apostles, AAAIIIRRR, The All Terrain Venomothm, and the great and powerful Fonze.

In terms of VT coaching search, though, I wouldn't mind if Cinci dropped this one. Give Cronin a little extra incentive to get out of there and reunite with his old boss. Might even be cheaper, too

And just to prove my point with data. Please read the following study published in the Journal of Sex Research:

Pornography Actresses: An Assessment of the Damaged Goods Hypothesis
http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00224499.2012.719168#.Uys7mv...

It finds specifically that:

porn actresses do not have a higher incidence of childhood sexual abuse and are "not less psychologically healthy" compared to the general public. The study-which was conducted by researchers at Pennsylvania's Shippensburg State University, Texas Women's University, and Sharon Mitchell, former director of the now-defunct Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundationis the most comprehensive one done on women in the adult entertainment industry to date.

Researchers had 117 female performers answer a series of questions that were then graded against established scales. For example, self-esteem was measured by the Rosenberg self-esteem scale, while "quality of life" was "assessed by the 10 dimensions of quality of life as developed by the World Health Organization."

So you can see, studies can show virtually anything. In this case, more comprehensively than any other study to date. You saying 100% are forced is highly inaccurate. Certainly there is that issue for many and it's a damning one, but not all women are equal whether in the sex trade are out.

Cincinnati losing to Harvard would hurt my remaining brackets something awful. I would really appreciate if the Bearcats could put some real effort in for the second half.

The majority of the Athletic Department seems to have spouses in the Athletic Department, so that would fit right in here. I'm sure they would accommodate the best they can.

Tyndall has done a bang up job every place he has been a head coach. His record speaks for himself. 20+ game winner in six out of nine seasons as a head coach. Post Season tournament in all six of those seasons. He had a bit of a rough start at Morehead State, starting 12-18. It is his only losing season as a head coach though. They were the regular season champions in the Conference USA this year based on their overall record (four teams tied at 13-3 in conference) They unfortunately lost to Louisiana Tech in the conference tournament semi-finals.

He employs a press defense, requiring opponents to work to get the ball up the entire length of the court, and a hard man to man defense in the half court. He then runs set plays on the offensive side of the ball to shorten the games.

My only concern on Tyndall is that he seems to rely too heavily on recruiting one location. Its a great location in New York City, but other than there and some foreign players, his rosters always have been from the NY area. I would like our new coach(es) to have a more well rounded recruiting approach if possible.

He would be an excellent hire though and likely wouldn't require us to break the bank to get him. His success in the NIT could make him a hotter commodity but I think still affordable.

My girlfriend had a game in college. Whenever or wherever she or her roommates were, if a Daniel L. Crandall (DLC) commercial came on there was a required shot to be taken, immediately.

EDIT: She saw this and told me to correct my typos.

I see her using the terms "empowering" and "sexually liberating" as an excuse to make herself feel better about her decision. I just can't see someone feeling empowered by showing off themselves naked to thousands of viewers. It just doesn't really seem like something that would make you feel THAT much better about yourself.

What I don't understand is why people are so opposed to the half community college, half 4 year college route. I'm not saying she had to do this, but I know a lot of people who are going to end college with 4 years of insane debt. Why not cut that in half and go to community college for the first two years? Some people are lucky and don't have to face this issue, yet others may not have the financial means to pay for school, yet they still feel like they deserve to be there.
