does anyone know realistic expectations for hokies competing in the nationals?

I just have to say, that reading a lot of posts on a "Happy Birthday" blog that aren't just filled with "This website is the best" but having legitimate reasons WHY it's the best, how it's affected lives of Hokie fans, and just seeing constructive comments in just about every response to posts is what amazes me about this place most of all.
I'm almost a decade removed from my tenure at VT, and this place reminds me of why I love it so much. It's like a home for Hokies.

Taking lateral or less jobs at UAB and other low end mid major programs is not moving on to bigger, higher profile programs. The amount of one and done assistants was caused by Seth, not by big programs coming knocking on our door.
Perhaps the author could look at our guys from our secondary that currently play in the pros.... If the author is referring to our overall program not being as elite as the others from a money/revenue standpoint, I'll give him that - but to say that our secondary and our defense is not elite? That's ludicrous!
Ok, maybe I misunderstood about letting the players opt out of their NLI. Its only fair to the kids to let them talk to the new-hire HC and decide from there. If it means we lose recruits, so be it.
After watching the Babcock press conference, the JJ era ends with a resounding thud. The shortest tenure in the ACC in 40 years comes to an end. Babcock gave JJ a resounding vote of "no-confidence" in his firing. As you know I was a SG fan, and think Weaver fawned all over JJ so as not to lose him.

Looking forward, I'm glad Babcock mentioned "spending to acquire talent" if available, and admitting that we are a "rebuilding project". Understanding that .500 in the ACC and an occasional March Tourney appearance is the long-term goal, I think the next coach has a long leash considering Babcock is known as a level-headed AD. The fact that his schools have always had basketball success makes me think he will spend the money on the right hire and worry about the fund raising later.

McConaughey should just be given the Emmy now and Harrelson is doing career work, too. The way they interact is fantastic.
My thoughts exactly. Harrelson has really grown into a great actor (or he's always been great and I've grown into accepting it), but he simply can't catch up to McConaughey. There is a fair amount of supporting acting that is outstanding, too, e.g. the victim's ex-husband whom they interview in prison.
The dialog is also excellent. For me that is often the make-or-break aspect of the writing, even more than pacing (sometimes more than the plot itself). But it all comes back to McConaughey and Harrelson delivering the lines.
He would be my first choice as well. But do we even have a chance? I feel like he's probably waiting for a big time bball program.

Shaka costs too much and he's so not leaving VCU for Tech, anyway. And VCU can keep him, that's fine by me. Sorry, y'all, I'm a Spider. Shaka's not very high on my favorites list.
And yes, Gregg Marshall will probably cost a pretty penny and will probably take a whole lot of convincing to leave Wichita State, but he could BUILD a program at Tech. Like Beamer has.
Marshall also does more with less, consistently. Again, much like Coach Beamer does. Which is exactly the kind of program I think our basketball program needs to be.
