I will attempt my best Beamer to answer some of AB's questions to show the difference:
Hows the offseason? Are you getting more sleep? Boy, I'll tell you that offseason, it'll get after ya'.
Did you have a history with him at all? History, it'll get after ya'.
You've said getting the running game going has to be offseason priority No. 1. How do you go about doing that? Well, that sure is one thing we want to focus on here. That running game, it'll get after ya'.
How much does that help to be back in the same place? uh.. seriously Andy, I've been here for 27 years.. oh, uh... I mean, staff continuity, it'll get after ya'.
This is insane... front squats are REALLY hard.
All I know is this - with a name like Brewer, I'll be yelling "BEER ME" every time he throws a TD.

I still don't fully understand what you originally said though... you didn't say it was refreshing, you said that he wouldn't get a head coaching job if he continued being open like that. Why? I'm sure there are head coaches out there who aren't like Frank Beamer when being interviewed..I'm sure there has to be at least one HC who conducts pretty candid interviews.
It is impressive; however, it is much easier for shorter people to get higher weight amounts because their legs or arms or whatever have a short distance to go.
March 13th can't get here quick enough for this team. Hopefully the ladies can make some noise in Greensboro.
My 6th sense tells me Brewer may blow up under Lefty's direction. Regarless of the quarterback, I know one of them will emerge as THE GUY. I foresee a crazy, under the radar, good year developing. I predict we jump out of the shadows and knock some teams out hollywood judo chop style. One time, bang, then drag them into the closet. By the end of they year, teams will see us coming, but it will be too late as Bud will have solidified the Imperial March Defense to compliment the new found fireworks. In short I feel like a blitzkrieg may be in the works.

SL: "Im sick with how we ran the ball, as well as everyone in this building should be, and every player. Theres a lot of reasons of why it was bad. To put a finger on one thing, one player, one position like if you really assess from running back to line to receiver, perimeter blocking, to quarterback reads, its a D, its a D-minus at all positions. Now, not to be a Negative Nancy here, but the fact of the matter is when you run for 120 yards in college football, cmon. Somethings wrong. And theres a lot of reasons for it.
That is an honest appraisal of the offensive problems. Coach speak would be: "We were just an occasional mistake from being where we want to be. We're are almost where we want to be. One more year of practices in the new system to fix these errors and we will have a strong running game."
Both mean the same thing. SL is refreshing in not sugar-coating the problems. I like it and I think it bodes well for the Tech offense going forward.

I read the first three words of this thread title and was like, "NOOOOOOOOOO!" but then I saw that he broke a record, not himself, and it was all good.
That tells me he's been putting in some work! I'm rooting for the guy to do well this year :D

I am pleasantly surprised by the improved defense we've been seeing over the past few games. Getting back to the tradition of the last 10 years or so - staying competitive by playing great D.
On the flip side, it seems like offense has been a fairly steady problem under Greenberg and now Johnson.

I think this helps cool our jets a little bit over all the excitement of a new QB. Brewer, it seems, has some great upside, coupled with some weaknesses that need to be worked on. He's just like the other QBs we have in this competition.
The thing that makes me feel good is that each QB has a significant upside to them, despite the areas where they need work. I think we can count on at least one of them to make significant progress, and that should make us feel pretty good despite knowing whoever we start will be (mostly) unproven.

I've noticed that many of the "air raid" type QBs that VT has faced over the years- - most notably ECU and Marshall - - have poor pocket presence if the 1st and 2nd reads get taken away. Much of that offense is predicated on making the correct pre-snap read on who has the mismatch or the single coverage. If that read is incorect, or if the defense adjusts, the QBs tend to get antsy and get lost in the pocket.

Or a head coach? What specific statements during the interview triggered your comment? I personally didn't see anything wrong with what he said but I'm not an authority on "coach speak". I have no idea what sorts of things get you hired as a head coach. I'm just trying to learn something here.
Well done. He has the strongest leg push of any RB VT has ever had. My only question, why can't he bulldoze a defender or push a pile? Too many times I saw him get hit and drop straight to the ground. Maybe he'll improve on that this year.
