Same reason Todd McShay wasaying Jayron had short arms a few years back - these guys have no idea what they're talking about. They're just filling air with blather and assuming the audience doesn't know enough about it to correct them.
This doesn't make sense. Every time we watch Kyle Fuller in the open field, he makes the tackle. I'd say he's been one of (if not the) best tackler on the team in the past few years.
I was at that game and remember it being cold but tolerable. Ashley Lee ran two picks back for touchdowns in that game, if I remember right.
Sounds like a classic, blue collar Hokie. From what I read, I really like this kid. Hopefully get chooses to be part of the Hokie nation in June!
They probably looked at some of the shoulder tackles where he got hurt, those are about the only ones that slip off. Other than that he is about as solid as they come in tackling.
YES!! Maybe they'll try that for run 2?
exum was moved to cb for a reason
He doesn't get of blocks well enough to be a ss and foster moved him out of being a fs because (if you read between the lines in his comments) he had issues calling coverages and keeping track of multiple routes. His time actually isn't terrible for a larger cb, but we'll see how it goes
I really have to question the official clock regardless today. Just seems odd that so many of the corners are posting unusually higher 40 times than most were previously expected. The prediction was that there would be anywhere from 18-20 DB's under the 4.5 mark and Fuller was tied at 13th at 4.49. That combined with Clowney clocking a 4.53 yesterday really makes me wonder if something wasn't slightly off today.
I thought the same thing when I was going to look at them but the assist numbers don't seem to support it. I think with their talent primarily being at their forward positions this year, Coach K has relied more on a standard set of getting the ball inside to allow Parker and Hood to work. Hood does step outside to attempt three's at about five a game though, so we have to be cognizant of it. I anticipate that JJ will stay more in the 2-3 zone, but stress the importance of stepping out to have a hand in the face of their perimeter shooters.
Yeah, I understand if people think he's not shifty enough or doesn't have the technique. Darqueze Dennard of Michigan St is a highly rated CB in the 4.5 range though, and there are plenty of other examples (Joyner of FSU, Purifoy of UF) who are in the same range as CBs.
Updated the OP with Fuller and Exum vertical's and long jump, along with their official 40 times.
Aaaaaand retweet.
Just going to leave this here
UCLA's Jordan Zumwalt ran a 4.76 40, but it would've been quicker if they'd placed a defenseless player at the finish line.— Hokie Wartooth (@Hokie_Wartooth) February 25, 2014
The underlying assumption is that Exum is an excellent defensive back. The question is whether he's a Safety or a Corner... His testing #'s show that he is strong for a DB, but not especially fast. That's a talent set that fits better at Safety than it does at Cornerback.
That last part seems redundant to me...
Yep. Duke will not only pick us apart with their outside shooting, but with their guard play against our zone. they have always been out of this world with penetrating and kicking to an open man against zone. Need to man up against them.
Exum would make a great safety. Kyle a shutdown CB in the NFL.
Seattle is going to draft Fuller in the 1st and Exum later on in the plan to have an all hokie all pro secondary
Well dammit...still more fans than UVA had at their Spring Game though. That part remains true.
And I was too slow... good catch
This was almost exactly a full year before I even came into existence.
That'd do it. Well spotted!
I think it's a non-American date notation (Day/Month/Year). That'd make it November 4th, which corresponds with the date in the link you posted.

The idea that these clocks are accurate to the hundredth of a second is pretty ludicrous anyway, so I wouldn't sweat it. The difference between 4.35 and 4.40 is so miniscule as to be irrlevant, and everyone acts like one guy is a burner and the other just average. My guess is it's all in the measurment noise anyhow.
