The wood seats aren't even new. They were going to replace them, but when they scraped away the paint that was on there, they liked the original wood color so much they kept it.
The impression I get from some of the administrators is that they love the feel of Cassell and have no serious plans to replace it anytime soon. At most you will see some renovations in the near future to include box seats, relocation of ADA seating, new lighting (which is happening within the next two years), and a new sound system if they can ever figure out the weight load the roof can handle.
My only concern for Walker playing much this year is that he may not be quite big enough yet.

This isn't Miami. I can guarantee Wiles couldn't care less about star rankings and any list ESPN makes (see Maddy, Luther). It's easy to think that since he's more highly recruited, he'll have more of the skills to play early. However, as French has shown above, once Sobczak can clean up his hand technique a bit, he'll be very much in the mix. Both kids will be thrown in and given the opportunity to impress the coaches. Whoever does that, plays.

I don't think you can really compare the NFL to NCAA in that regard.
A lot of Guys that go into the NFL seem to lose most of their drive/effort after they sign that first multi-million dollar contract
I'm probably being pessimistic, but for me the question is not "if" but "how many" will transfer. I suppose that's the problem with having to jump-start depth at the QB position. It would at least open some scholarships for another deep class.
I suppose in a perfect world one of Ford & Durkin win the job, the other decides to wait 3-4 years, and McMillian switches positions and becomes an impact skill player. However, given French's analysis, I would think McMillian would believe in his own skills and want to remain a QB. If Leal comes out on top the situation remains the same for the most part, just shifted a year. Who knows what happens if Motley wins the job. If any of these three have serious aspirations of making the NFL then I can't see how they would stay in a situation that is only going to provide one year to start.
(Alternate ideal scenario, Ford or McMillian wins the starting job, the other waits his turn as QB2, and Durkin switches to TE/H-Back. No sarcastica if you can believe it).
I remember Corso being interviewed a couple days after that game about the car incident. He said something like "I will never pick anyone over Virginia Tech again."

I remember those days.
The 3OT win over Louisville when Calvin Oldham tipped that ball in was classic. The place exploded.
The 20 point win over Memphis State University (that was their name back then) the day - THE DAY - they were ranked #1 was awesome.
I saw both of those games. Blacksburg partied hard those nights.
The loudest moment I can remember was 2001 with #1 Miami in town. When we blocked that kick and returned it against them. That moment was the loudest I can ever remember Lane. I think that moment registered as an Earthquake as well. That was the game that Wilford dropped the 2pt conversion and Grant Noel had his 5 turnovers. We had that team beat that went on to win the NC.
Think both will get opportunity but have to think Walker being ESPN 300 and 4 star type kid will get 1st shot to earn spot but sobczak will get a shot and both will need a great camp.

I think it would be very difficult to justify the cost of a new arena with the current number of empty seats I see at every home game. Besides Cassell has a lot of history, especially in the late 70's and early 80's when B-ball was the knig in Blacksburg. Remodel yes, rebuild no!

They are also designating Lane Hall a National Registry of Historic Sites building and doing a major renovation, so it will stay the red brick that the campus started as back in 1872. It will become the location for all the Corps offices, ROTC offices and classrooms and the future home of the Corps of Cadets museum, currently housed at the Library since Rasche Hall was torn down.

I know what you mean, but I had honestly been waiting for...the big death in that episode... since midway through season 3 (I'm assuming thats what traumatized you). It was only a matter of time and I think it was a good way for the character to go out. The biggest problem I have is so you seriously expect me to believe that the group never made a contingency plan on where to meet should everything go to shit?? Especially when they KNEW they were about to be attacked?
