First of all, great effort by the boys. It was a fun game to be at even though the final result wasn't what we wanted.
I understand JJ's game plan for the last few games - make it ugly, waste clock to limit opponent's offensive possessions, etc. It's working in terms of keeping games competitive. However, we seemed to have a hard time coming out of that at the end of the game when we needed points. We needed to attack the basket - like Wilson was doing at the very end of the game when it really didn't matter anymore. A few more drives like that interspersed throughout the game and we may have come away with a win.

Will Johnston. The hustle he showed out there was awesome. I don't care that he's not the most talented player in the world, when a guy hustles like that he deserves every minute he gets.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Lane limitation, just remember that being awesome. And the '09 Miami game was so dark it might as well have been a night game.

I remember walking to Lane before the game and everything just felt different that night. Colors were more vivid, sound was sharper, air was crisper, and we were definitely louder.

Every time UVA got an offensive rebound I thought of what Brian said. Devin is gonna be a good player, me thinks. He is absolutely fearless every time he touches the ball.

Well played game. Was impressed with the intensity of the crowd for a change this season (amazing what happens when people show up) Tough to see it slip away at the end. Free throws at 60% again, although that only would cut the lead in half if it were at 70%.

I was shocked to see our zone defense force UVA to shoot so many three pointers. They threw up 25 attempts tonight from outside the arc. As was mentioned by Brian in his recent write up, our defense is playing to the other teams misses. UVA shot 36% from outside the arc, really kept us in the game.

Also as Brian predicted, giving up offensive rebounds played a big role, UVA had 11 on the night and turned that into 19 points, including three 3's, especially the critical one from Anderson that seemed to turn the tide of the game with about three and a half minutes left, bringing UVA back to only being down one at 46-45. Really tough to win games when you allow the other team 33% of their points on second chances.

Another key factor was the fact we turned the ball over 14 times to their 7, these were especially critical in the first half when we had a chance to bury the Cavaliers. We had five turnovers in the last five minutes of the first half so we only took a seven point lead to half time.

Unfortunately this was a game that hinged on Eddie not being on tonight. He went 1-for-8 from the field, including 1-for-7 from behind the arc. Too many times he could have taken the step to the inside and gotten a 15 footer he chose to launch from behind the line. He did manage to go 4-for-5 from the free throw line but the shooting was too little in the end. You cant have your leading scorer only manage to score one point in the entire second half if you hope to win.

Hats off to Joey and Devin for solid nights with their 13 points a piece.

Devin Wilson is gonna be something special I think. Joey is starting to figure it out too, him and Devin run a great pick and roll for young guys

What do you all think the odds are that we decide to keep JJ for his whole contract. But as an assistant. Ive never heard of this being done, but could bringing in a profile coach and keeping JJ be an option?

I think the whole seating area needs to be torn out. drop capacity down to ~8k in order to put in some club/box type seats, make all seats more modern, etc. i would also move the player benches across the court and make the first 10 rows across the court form the cameras the part of the Cassell Guard section.

i'm anti-replacing Cassell until it's capacity is the concern. i don't think we will ever be at a point where we need 12k+ seats simply because so many games are on weeknights and we are so far away from our alumni bases.

Im sure that was addressed in the settlement: no ill words from either party. Although you can bet Weaver and SG would go at it in private

We may not be a very good team but you can't question this team's effort. They refuse to give up on the season. Proud of the Hokies tonight.

"Eddie has done just fine" ? 1 for 7 again, no rebounds, no assists, 7 total points, crucial time of the game and no production....and should he have been named captain?

Jesus I think that announcer is going to go home and pleasure himself to a picture of Harris.
