hey hey..... black is NOT a color! so it doesnt go against maroon and orange.... no one complains when white is used as the palette(sp?). I boil this down to the unneeded hate of blackness..... /exaggeration
...But orange is one of our colors. We're like the only school that does orange and maroon. If we move to all maroon everything with absolutely no orange we lose that unique scheme that we have. We suddenly look like alabama/boston/everyone else. I'm in favor of all maroon everything but that's with the assumption that there will be orange something.

My only thing about the Friday night in question is that is Black Friday. I know from personal experience I watch a LOT of football that entire weekend. Any random Friday I totally agree but that Friday I think will have more viewers.
What I don't know and can't speak about is whether people have off of work that day. I realize retail stores are open, but I don't know if the office workers would be home or not.

It has been done for a lot of other highlight videos, but I would watch anything Dozer/Straw put out there over and over and over...I'm gonna go watch the 2013 trailer again.

Regarding black uni's. I'm not opposed but ONLY if we had one standard uniform that could be brand recognition the likes of Michigan, ND, etc. If we had that and choose 1 game a year to do something then I can accept. Otherwise it's just all a setup for being mocked. I've seen the arguments that players love it but players love wearing nationally recognized uniforms more.
Dear new AD, please hold a national competition to design a beloved, nationally recognized Uni that brings the SWAG. My vote goes to anything all Maroon with orange highlights.
I don't understand the black uniform hate. Yeah, it's nice to wear our colors with pride, and yeah, I hate most of the dumb designs we've come up with recently. But the black uniforms were one of the sleekest and most creative uniforms our athletic department (or Nike, whoever you want to give credit to) has ever come up with. We always talk about how important it is to get "national exposure" around here and nothing does that these days more than these uniforms, it's what the recruits always talk about when they visit and most younger fans find them badass (I'm a current student and I haven't met a single peer of mine who doesn't absolutely love them). It's not like anybody wants them to be the regular home uniforms or anything, it's for one nationally televised game on BLACK FRIDAY, it's the perfect time to break them back out again. And if you're really worried about black not being one of our colors, our official colors used to be black and gray, which I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere was the inspiration for these uni's in the first place; so if anything, it's the ultimate fusion of throwback/tradition with a modern and innovative touch.
I want to bring back the #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING spirit as much as anyone, but I don't see why wearing special uniforms for one game that aren't maroon, white, or orange is some kind of insane blasphemy. Nobody's asking to be Oregon or Maryland and come up with something stupid every single week, but it doesn't hurt to do something new every once in a while.

Yeah, I get that. I'm glad you were rational and saw it kinda spun on me a bit, I didn't think that it'd be this fun and I should have definitely asked first.
I actually appreciate you changing the title. I would have been pissed as a user to see it and that's unfair of me to hawk my wares, as silly and as fun as it is.
Also, as a disclaimer, I get both sides of the argument. Tradition vs. flash, and before that spirals on me, it's never going to be black vs. orange and maroon. I love orange and maroon, my wardrobe proves that, however, we innovated the alternative jersey for college ball and I enjoy that immensely. Seeing black or silver paired up with O&M would look fantastic, I simply don't think it's been done correctly.

I was going to delete this thread (something I almost never do), but decided to chime in and say how much I hate this idea and topic. Virginia Tech's colors are maroon and orange. That's it. Done. End of conversation.
Furthermore, it's kind of cool that a movement spun up out of the community here, but to me this is borderline spam. Yeah, I managed to get tickets three rows behind the Tech bench for the 2012 game the day before the game. There was a decent showing of Hokies and I was impressed with Heinz field. Just need a better showing on the field.

Since the beginning they have always aimed for the first couple days of February. The 3rd is a Monday so maybe then, but there is a basketball game on the 1st so they could do it before the game.

Was just looking at possibly going to the Duke game. It's only a 4 hour trip to Duke from Northern VA, could even make a trip to Richmond the night before to half the trip on the way down.
Agree. One of the biggest reasons to love TKP is that people contribute updates on a lot of sports. We get baseball, softball, soccer (M&W's) as well as football, and the odd tidbit of the other sports here and there. Especially when we are winning or team needs extra support.
Though I have not seen any Ice Hockey updates which I used to go watch while I was at VT.

I think the main cool thing about these uniforms isn't the blackness but the awesomeness of the graphics. I definitely wouldn't want them all season long, but give me those sweet numbers kust least once every 4 years instead of the current once every lifetime. Or some other cool graphic.
