I enjoyed being an MV back in 2010 because we beat all four teams, and then as the band went back to the buses after the UNC game we were chanting "North Carolina state champions!"

I'm with CPA on this one; leave Friday for HS and get us something other than the dreaded noon timeslot on Saturdays. Of course I'm one of the minority who thinks that the time for Thursday night games is behind us; I think the exposure was good early on but now it just feels gimmicky, not to mention being a pain in the ass as far as travel goes. And nothing will top the 2003 aTm game anyway.
I used to ride this train of thought, but then 2007 happened. We played ECU, then got blown out by LSU, a game that we looked entirely unprepared for. They played Mississippi State before that game.
The thing about the first week of the season is that neither team has had their "tune-up", so they're on equal footing. All else equal, I feel that we might as well get it out of the way early.
Though, some seasons, such as this coming one when we're debuting a new starting QB, it's be nice to get the offense a game to get in sync. It all depends on the situation.
Eh, they're just trying to convince themselves they have a rivalry with us. Sorry, but 2 wins over us since 2004 a rivalry does not make.
I'd be mad too, if my team was *edit* 3-8 *edit* all-time against VT. That and GT probably got their only win against VT out the way in the CPJ era.
