Hear. hear. It's always the weird cat lady in Logistics that picks Brown to beat Syracuse because brown is her favorite color who wins the pool at the end.

Long time reader/lurker but seeing this wrestling content aided in my decision for me to register an account (also didn't realize the accounts were free...). Even just a little summary like this for one of Tech's hardest working and, of late, more successful athletic programs is cool to see.

Spjut's win on Sunday was absolutely awesome. On Senior day, over a ranked opponent, and up a weight from where he's been at for the past 2 years. Feel good stuff for sure - I wasn't there in person but on the live feed it really seemed to get the fans at Cassell hyped as well - awesome to see him get some sort of gratification out of his hard work and for all that he's been asked to do for this program (wrestling at 125, 133 and now 141 based on what the team has needed). Hopefully there's more success to come for him and the rest of the Hokie grapplers this year as they progress towards March.

Go Hokies

Lot of students come back on Friday anyhow. Some of the best times I had at Tech were right after breaks, before classes started.

Plus you miss all of the Thanksgiving traffic on 81 Sunday.

I'm glad we can have a civil debate about this. My facts and implications are mostly rants due to frustration about what I feel is an unfair system. The system is a reflection of our world, which also has many issues. Can we make it more fair and less influenced by greed?

I can't consider the big time programs any better than the rest because they start off with so many more competitive advantages. Same is true with success in our economic system. A few folks have a great head start. There are many more underdogs in this world than favorites. What I love about VT is that success has come through a lot of hard work.

What if NFL played on Friday nights instead of Thursday nights?

I believe you can expect this game to be at night. Would make no sense for a Friday day game. So yes, I do think VT students would drive back Friday morning to make it to a Friday game.

Ha - was wondering the same - why did this feed suddenly appear on the same day that rumors started about a UVA/VT Friday game....

.... odd.

Come back to the 'Burg for a game and a weekend of drinking before classes start or spend days 6 thru 8 in a row with family?

I think there will be plenty of students in attendance.

There are not many kids playing high school football on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Especially not between noon and 3:30 when this game is to be played.

This is not a big deal. There are several games that day. Always.

fans - maybe true. But what about the students? Think VT students will drive back the evening of Thanksgiving or the crack ass of dawn on Friday in order to make a Friday game - knowing they still have a solid 2-3 days of break left?

5-10 yeas ago, it wouldnt have been a question. But now, students seem more "fairweather" than in prior years.

ACC has a contractual obligation to I believe 2 or 3 Friday night games a year. Black Friday makes sense for exclusivity and the ability to build it up (regardless of who is playing). The first Friday of the year is another solid choice as well. After that, there really isn't a better option.
