lol hey now, some of us take offense to the "TSL influx" barb. But yeah, this is one of those "will this topic ever f'n DIE" posts that overwhelmed that board which, shockingly, is only going to get worse now that they've scrapped vB and are going with their 1990s archaic formatting that long made them the ridicule of fan sites.

Anyway, to answer the question. He isn't going anywhere til he wants to go. He's surrounded himself with legit talent now, and could very well go a lot longer than people want to admit if these coordinators start pulling their weight to the level we expect them to. If Loeffler is the real deal and that offense gets rolling (would it even be appropriate to say 'get the offense rolling again') I could see him going another 10 years, easy. But in the end, the call is his, so there's no use in worrying about it.

And when he does retire, we're going to be fine. We're the largest high profile university in one of the largest states in the US with a recruiting hotbed in our own backyard who fully understands that we need football to be good in order for our Athletic Department to strive. I HIGHLY doubt our Athletic Department is incompetent enough to screw that up. Even Jim Weaver knew where his bread was buttered.

I can't wait til the day when a Hokie going to the Super Bowl is not a pat on the back accomplishment. In other words, I am looking forward to the day when there's a Hokie on every NFL roster, so we're guaranteed a horse in the race at the end.

That said, good for Kam. That kid is a beast, and I'd love to have him in Carolina.

To follow on this point, effort in fundraising and quality of that effort would make a big difference. I have a grad degree from Duke, and their fundraising effort blows our/VT's away. I don't think I've ever heard anything from the Hokie Club, and I graduated in 1998. Athletic fundraising is much weaker than it should be given the level of success we/VT have seen on the field. Frankly, the same holds true for academic giving as well (I've heard from them, but Duke does a much better job).

Completely agree. There are far too many cliques and inside jokes over there, and its not only allowed but encouraged by the admins.

And you're right, its constant beat-downs over anyone who has an opinion that differs from the TSL 'norm'. The admins said they wanted to crack down on personal insults, but then allow certain people over there to continually egg others on and begin flame wars that drag out constantly and devolve conversations into trollwars. Instead of trying to build toward the future and grow their user base, they catered to a select few who have been with them since the HokieCentral days. Well thats nice and all, but their revenue streams will eventually wither up, and the site will die off while sites like this continue to grow and expand.

I'd like it eliminated, because right now, the series after a TD is the most boring in sports:

TD! I'm so excited!

*commerical break*

automatic extra point. meh

*commerical break*

Kickoff for a touchback. yawn

*commerical break*

Ok... now football?

THIS!! Like any site that you're new too, READ MORE, POST LESS for a few weeks. I like TKP because French, Mason, Joe, and Bulldozer rock out with their cocks out but also I can have an intelligent debate without losing my temper and put my fist through this Gov't computer monitor. Pie>Cake, Bourbon in the fall/winter, Coors light in the spring/summer!

Out of curiosity does anyone know how many head coaches were HoF caliber players?

Keep extra points they make the Two Point Conversions more interesting. Get rid of field goals. Touchdown or bust! I'm tired of seeing teams winning or tying a game on a field goal as time expires by lollygagging around for 3 plays while going 2 yards in 90 seconds....

He will be the head coach through at least 2016. If the new AD is selected with Beamer's support, he will be the head coach as long as he wants afterwards.

Oh no. It's happening. Brace yourselves for the TSL influx. That being said, welcome aboard. Long live the Frankinator.

Hello, New member here... Was a long time subscriber to TSL but infrequent poster. I became frustrated with the old/new format there. I prefer the VB format but it was readily apparent that they preferred the chat style as that is where Will and Chris posted. As well, I answered there call when they begged in Dec. 2012 for subscribers to step up to annual plan. Wanted to continue to support that site but as others have said, the negativity is rampant. Combine that with the lack of direction and i am done. Cancelled yesterday.

Anyway, I am glad to have found a new VT forum!

Mike

New to the site. The TSL switch annoyed me. I don't know how they could abandon the vBulletin format. I hate having to click on a link to see what each person has to say.

I'll continue to visit the site every now and then for some of the content, but I won't be visiting the message board all that often.

Yeah...I saw that after I went off on my soliloquy. It was late, and I really like my resume story.

Really, the solution is easy. You need to force kickers to drop kick like the old days on extra points... now THAT would be entertaining. And it would certainly make extra points more difficult.

I can't embed videos at work, but there's one somewhere of Doug Flutie doing it during his last run with the Pats.

I just don't know what we do with J.C.. The kid has been such a team player, but if Williams can come in and be a 1, 2 punch with Trey and be better in pass protection. I see J.C. easily sliding down to 3rd sting.
