as long as Loeffler is here, TE is definitely not "a position that doesn't affect us as as much offensively".
Yep. Smith isn't going anywhere. I doubt any are except for maybe Taylor.
Well this is reassuring...at least one of our recruits seems to still be on board and trying to keep that fab5 together.

the knock on Newsome wasn't that he couldn't recruit. By all he accounts, he most certainly could. He just couldn't coach them once they got on campus.
Boom! Research, I like it!
where are you hearing that?
I've never really seen Wood as a 4. We're already bringing in a couple guys that could play the 3, so I don't know that this will necessarily affect recruiting. I would be happy if it did and they went out and got a 4, though.
You really think JJ's staff is subpar? It was pretty well thought of when they were hired...

Wow coach grimes left, he was such a great coach! #biglossā Kenjamin Ekanem (@Ekannibal) January 15, 2014
The running game and RBs will do better with a better line. Get a good OL coach and role with it. I am not so sold on Stiney being our #1 option
Wow, amazing stat. Now that I think about it, I don't recall a RB fumble.
I'd tell these recruits that "yes, indeed, change sucks, but change is inevitable and does not necessarily mean something bad." The pieces are falling into place for Virginia Tech to make a meteoric rise, prized QB's, RB's and receivers. They can face the challenge of change and be a part of that. I say 'come on' because we want you and that hasn't changed.
You both seem to have glossed over my last sentence. To repeat... I don't think anybody's suggested paying him more than Loeffler, much less Foster. There are different ways that could be accomplished while increasing Grimes's salary (increasing other coaching salaries, or not, in different combinations). Each has different discussion points.
To answer the question about whether I'd be comfortable paying Grimes more than Wiles, the answer would be yes... it's not all about what you've done at VT. It's what your market worth is. We're not communists.

Don't void functions return no value by definition? I sucked at programming, but I think I remember that.
I agree with everything else you said.
VT couldn't keep thier Grimey hands on coach Grimes :-(
No I wouldn't. Time for new blood and time for Frank to cut ties with the buddy system. Stiney is the major contributor to the mess we are in Offensively. I would rather cut him and use some of his money to increase others more deserving.
FU LSU
S. Beamer is a real RB coach. Just a reminder this past season was the FIRST one in Frank Beamers tenure that a RB did not fumble. Now, that's not everything but he's working with what he's got.
Yes. I want no momentum swinging the other way.
We need to get on this ASAP.
This is the risk you take tapping into national coaching talent. The true test is to see how well the HOKIES respond. OLINE is a huge concern for next season, retaining recruits is priority #1.
HOKIE ON!!!
My ode to Grimes (set to Lady Stardust, by David Bowie):
Fans all stared
at defenders in Logans face
Laughed at Newsomes fail,
he was a disgrace.
The man with the sweet goatee
Came to coach this place,
And coach Grimey told us all
About how the lined be really great.
And it was alright, the line was coming together!
Yes, it was alright, the backs would run forever!
And it was awful cool,
To think that our line might rule!
And we would win all season long.
Cajun boys emerged from shadows
To watch this coaching man.
Les offered more
Than we could ever match.
I smiled sadly, for a coach we could not keep.
And coach Grimey left,
And the Hokies all then did weep.
And it was alright, the line was coming together!
Yes, it was alright, the backs would run forever!
And it was awful cool,
It was really too good to be true!
And we would win all season long.
Oh, how we sighed
When the cajuns asked about our o-line
And it was alright, the line was coming together!
Yes, it was alright, the backs would run forever!
And it was awful cool,
To think that our line might rule!
And we would win all season long.
To his successor:
All we ask for is total domination in the trenches, and to be able to impose our will on opposing defenses.
My thinking is if you shuffle the deck and move Stiney to OL, our current recruits can make a connection with him and stay(as he also happens to be a decent recruiter AND a pretty good OL coach if u remember). Then you move S. Beamer to a position that doesn't affect us as as much offensively (TE). RB recruits won't bail because he's still on staff. You hire a new RB coach to clean up the mess and voila!

I love that Stiney is STILL the program whipping boy. Yall gotta eventually let this go. He is an asset to the program. I promise.
