Keep in mind that a very similar thing just happened to FSU since Jeremy Pruitt, their defensive coordinator, was hired away by Georgia. Even though Pruitt's hire at Georgia was confirmed by an unnamed FSU official, I was unable to find any official statements on the events, details, or impending coaching search. It's not uncommon at all for there to be no official comment on these moves, especially when they are still in the process of happening (based on Wyatt Teller's tweet, current players haven't even been notified yet). Sure it's essentially "coachspeak" coming from a higher level in the athletic department, but I simply don't buy this as some huge botched fiasco of a situation by the VT AD. 99.9% of college football fans will end up reading the story on ESPN once it's official and they aren't going to think, "Wow VT's AD didn't even comment. What a clueless bunch of idiots must be running the show in Blacksburg!"

One potential "perk" idea to enhance the value of a Hokie Club membership would be donor-only lines for getting into the stadium. That small gift of convenience would do two things: reward existing donors and give non-donors a visible reminder of the benefits of membership.

That's a good point when you recall how our last three top RBs fumbled at the most inopportune times.
Evans fumbled during our last drive against {that CAA school who must not be named}.
RMFW fumbled against UNC to set up their game-winning FG in '09.
DMFW fumbled against Clemson to set up their first (or second, I forget) score in '11.
Updated website would be a nice start.
To the recruits: We still plan to play the same brand of smashmouth football. CFB and CSL will find someone to fit the mold.
As a non alumni fan I feel like Tech does not do a lot to advance themselves in the donation department. I currently live in Columbus OH, home of OSU, I see examples every day of Buckeye groups. I have tried in three different cities to find active fan/alumni groups to get together to watch games and just be around other Hokies and have no luck. I would love to start giving in the next year as we finally move out of Ohio and are more stable, but would love to see more from the school to get fans and alumni involved around the country.
I think we have to find another Hokie alumni -not named Newsome- as our OLine coach. The main problem is, VT just doesn't have the capital to retain good coaches who aren't emotionally invested in the program.
The positive side of all of this is that we should all appreciate Foster, Wiles, and Gray, more as a result. They have had opportunities to take higher paying jobs elsewhere, but still remain loyal to VT.
I was thinking similarly: the downside of having SEC coaches is they may move around like SEC coaches.
We'll get a better coach. JG is probably talking it over with family and friends before he decides. There may also be some contract issues to work out before it can become official.

This perfectly captured my mood as soon as I found out the news. Then I heard rumors that Stinespring might, I stress might, become our new O-Line coach. God, I'm depressed....
Yeah...maybe next time in Death Valley we only lose 49-10.

As the current Undergraduate Representative to the University Athletics Committee, this is an issue that is well known. Reps of the HC are at these meetings and know that there have been communication/marketing problems. One of the biggest problems is the lack of communication and disconnect with recent graduates. They are currently exploring initiatives of how to better reach out to these graduates. I encourage you to write and let your opinions heard - they will sincerely value your opinion and take your ideas into consideration.
Our last meeting we met with the 3rd party company that is assisting in our search for a new AD. We discussed issues we want the new AD to address and one of them is helping revive the Hokie Club. So, know that this will be brought up further when we have a new AD.
