We have a few people that's underpaid. Bud prolly could make a million dollars at some school. He is one of the top DC's in the country. Grimes even tho we got him cheap is one of the best OL coaches in college football as well and should be making more money as well. TG should also get a pay increase. But I don't think tech will pony up the money for these guys
Slacker and I debated this in another Forum as well. It's not that I don't believe he had issues with his shoulders nor that it impacted his game. However, I would have thought that had it been an issue that was causing so much problem then at some point we would have heard about it. Either Gentry, Sherman, Stiney, Beamer would had made mention of it. Especially after the video surfaced.
Heck, even Davis didn't say anything in his interview after the video. You could make an argument that he may have been trying to keep it quiet for NFL scout so it didn't impact his stock. But I don't think that Beamer would have kept that quiet after such a negative light was shone on the program with that viral video.
8 years, to be precise.
7 from the coach's presence
1 year break of improvement
1 year back to being screwed by good coach leaving.
This is a very valid point. I've separated a grand total of 6 shoulders during my rugby career (yes, I was stupid and came back a bit too early for most of them, I'm enthusiastic, so sue me). They're not fun and a pain (to put it mildly on a family-friendly forum) to rehab from. I've never spent so much time with a can of soup in my life. Still have a lump on my AC joint from the last separation and I never even needed surgery. MD had shoulder surgery after his senior year, so you can bet they weren't right during the season. I'll be as critical as the next guy when it comes to WRs blocking (or calling for flags while the ball is in the air), but I'm also ready to give the benefit of the doubt here.
If Grimes takes off I'm officially calling us cursed to be screwed by our offensive line coach. It's happened for years now.
You know what I hate about Mondays? I'll tell you what I hate about Mondays. I woke up on a Monday uncertain about the future of Jeff Grimes as our offensive line coach. This unresolved situation has been eating at me all day and, in fact, for many days. The thought of trying to rebuild this offense without him is soul-crushing. I'll let Dr. Cox more fully explain what would happen if Grimes were to leave us:
It's pretty bad. So there, that's what's awful about Mondays: the uncertainty. There are new things to deal with and I have no idea how any of them will turn out. I just want to get to Friday so at least I know how it all ends. Stupid Mondays and their new beginnings....
Wait... the festivities took place in the bathroom, or the ramifications?
Good gravy, I wanna run through a wall right now.
The one positive I can see here: If Grimes does say no, he can go to Taylor and say, "Hey look, I turned down a big-time offer at LSU and earlier I turned one down at Texas. I believe in what we're doing here and I want you to be a big part of it. You're not my #2 guy and you're definitely not my #32 guy, you're my #1 offensive tackle right now. You want in?"
Man, I hope Grimes stays.
This song is really all I want to sing to Grimes. (Frame of Reference: I was writing a paper, listening to the radio and reading this thread when the song came on. I found it oddly appropriate.)
Hoo engineers? Don't they outsource bulb replacement to Tech grads?

Ke Fuller going to set an all time VT scoring record with all them pick sixes and blocks.
I've read this Wednesday is the decision date. They seem to be moving pretty quickly.
If it's Grimes, the sooner the better so we can make a quick hire to replace him. If it's not Grimes, then he's got some shaky bridges to patch up with his OL recruits, especially Taylor.
Suitable replacement if Grimes goes? I'm very partial to Todd Washington.
THIS
Drew Brees rolled his ankle this weekend. Sean Peyton is expected to put Logan Thomas in at the "Feeding tight end Jimmy Graham" position.
I don't think he acted like it was analagous. He even said he was a heck of video game running back. Not a heck of a real life running back.
Lol copy and paste much? Could have reworded it from the other site :p
But I agree with your statement, but I think it is due to losing major playmakers on offense, I.E. Wilson, Boykin, Coale, etc. We haven't had the playmakers on offense since then. I do think the group of receivers now have a chance to develop into solid players when they are upperclassmen.
Does anyone have a general time frame for when this thing will be decided? How often do these types of coaching searches last? 1-2 weeks?
Automatic down votes for anyone that mentions video games as if they are analogous to real life.
God damnit. I really miss east coast girls.
I personally don't have any issues with Knowles being challenged for his spot by one of the freshmen
Problem with arguing is that French has got the film. Hard to argue with the film.

Yes I'm going overboard with the stupid pictures.
Deflected off her hands and into the waiting crotch of a male stripper, returned to the bank for one of the saddest pick 6% compound interest savings accounts ever seen.

I think VT has finally seen that to play Big time football and to keep up with big time football. You Got to pay for the right coaches. Frank Beamer went the "Buddy Route" and It cost VT, I don't see that happening again. They will ante up on all salaries.
