Lebron is a beast on the basketball court...but IDK if he's tough enough for football...it would definitely be interesting to see him try it though...he'd obviously fit the mold of a great pass catching TE but without experience I'm not sure how his blocking would be. I suspect after taking a few big hits by some world class line backers he'd want to get back to the bball court...
THIS. I have the same feeling this is why we never can recruit highly rated LB as well. Dadi is a LB in NFL not DE, but in our system he plays DL. Our LBs sometimes play as Safeties. Only CBs seems to naturally transition into the same position in the League. And highly ranked recruits want 4 years playing their position to prepare them for playign on Sundays. Always been a concern of mine.
But in Bud we trust, and his system does work. So it's a toss up.

Everyone who has had to dive for an overthrown ball, get crushed jumping for a high pass while crossing the middle, lean over the sideline to keep his feet in bounds, come back on a scramble, or read an open seam in coverage would disagree with this. Good WRs can make average QB's look great. Welcome to Megatron's entire football career.

You would be correct, but pretty much only because he just came off his 3rd straight state title for Hampton. And then he wasted his talent by trying to play basketball for UNC.
When I think INT machine, I think Eli Manning. Eli can make bad decisions from time to time, has his share of bad luck, and has a REALLY solid receiving corps around him (2 out of those 3 could describe LT3 one season or another). Oh and he also has 2 super bowl rings. I don't think we can properly judge LT3 until he isn't required to single-handedly carry the team week in and week out. I'm intrigued to see what he would do at the next level with real play makers at his side.

Logan Thomas will not be a good NFL QB. He has to think too much in the position rather than just feel and react. I believe his first year was actually skewed because he had good receivers. A good QB makes his receivers better, not vice versa. He'll be a backup QB at best. NFL defenses are too good at creating complex cover strategies, he'd be an INT machine.
I always just assume that the coaches will make the numbers work, one way or another.
I can't believe that if a recruit wanted to come to Blacksburg that the coaches thought would help the team, they'd let something as silly as scholarship limits prevent that from happening :)

I know we can't nail it down exactly, but an educated guess of that number to use when looking at the remaining targets would be a nice feature.
* And by genius, I mean someone giving a number that at least appears to be based in rational thought. I'd also accept the ravings of an idiot savant, or pulling a number out of a hat but delivered w/ purty words.
I agree. Part of the what has hurt VT's recruiting on defense is that Bud's D is a "system". We lament the high-ranked recruiting misses, and it can't help when recruits see several of the 4 stars we do get not even see the field an any significant way.
I'm not saying there wasn't good reason. I trust the coaches to put the best chance to win on the field.
But it's not like we are an SEC team with too many 4 stars to play. Every one that doesn't play at VT stands out more as an example other teams in our strata, or aspiring to our strata, can use as leverage.
It's happened before. Antwaan Randle El was a 2nd round draft pick as a WR after being a college QB. Pat White was a 2nd round pick as a WR after being a college QB. Armanti Edwards was a 3rd round draft pick as a WR after being a college QB. Those are off the top of my head.
It's moot though because Thomas is going to the Senior Bowl and the combine as a QB.

For just available scholarships Bitter gives a run down after every new commit so you could find on his blog. The key is how the numbers game gets worked. Who counts on this year by coming in early. Who goes on next year. Any grayshirts (haven't heard of any)? Anyone, like Harley, leaving? I think that's harder to pin down in terms of numbers.

Yeah and I really doubt (and hope he doesn't) he goes to the Lions... which would be entertaining IMO. Imagine the fun-to-watch chases of him running for his life with Suh and Fairley hot on his tail. I think that would be a really quick reality check.
Agreed. And if we get Ford, Harrison and Phillips all at WR next year I am not sure you can keep all of them from playing straight away. WR and RB is going to be extremely interesting to watch.
That's not entirely true..Nick Marshall is new to Auburns roster this year..He's a JuCo transfer and he's an extremely significant addition to the roster. Auburns QB position was so terrible last year that Nick Marshall came in and started right away in his first season on campus. Auburns starting QB from last year is now playing safety. That says something about the lack of talent at the most important position on the field. You're not going to win many games, especially if you're playing from behind, with a QB who is so bad he loses his job to a freshman and gets moved to safety. I know a lot of people have given Loeffler a lot of shi* about how bad his offense was last year but as French and Mason pointed out in the off season, the scheme was fine but the QB couldn't convert 3rd downs which really killed the offense all season. Enter Nick Marshall and you have a completely different looking offense.
Think about Glennon...only about 7X worse. That's about what Auburn had last year. Try to win some games in the SEC w/out a QB and you're gonna have a bad time.
