I mean actual 85-man rosters, not programs. Easier that way, and not accounting for changing numbers of FBS teams, just left it at 126. Point still stands. There are a LOT more teams that do not win championships than do win.

Account for multiples by 1 team like Alabama and now FSU and that number drops.

Interestingly it was when logan took his pads off that we started the down hill tumble, I feel that all of the players still had hope when seeing logan walking around and upbeat but when his pads came off we gave up the long TD drive and then the pic 6. LT was such a great leader not just for the offense but the entire team and he was greatly missed.

That game was so odd to me. Verne Lundquist was incoherent, and the officials really did both teams a disservice. I don't think we lost because of officiating (more like arm tackles, and over pursuit) but the way they officiated felt inconsistent and out of joint. VT and UCLA got away with face masks and pass interference, and holding.
It left me feeling like we didn't get a real game, and robbed of a fair shot. Am I sour grapes or does anyone else agree that was a bizarre display of officiating?
duke gave aTm everything they could handle...they're no joke. I wouldn't write off duke as an automatic win
Yes, it was one of the worst broadcasts I'd ever seen.
As I mentioned in a different post, it was error ridden and the UCLA and SEC love was dripping off the screen.
It was cool to show Sam's brother but it went on way too long and was duplicated.

There's the problem. There's no guarantee, not even close, of that happening. We don't have the resources, facilities, fan base, tradition, etc. of FSU. We have no way to get a sure-fire thing at head coach. Even if we did, with the talent limitations in the program, it'd probably take a good 2-5 years to actually see results. Over the past 27 years, there are a total of about 3375 teams that have not won a national championship, compared with 27 teams that have. That's less than 1% of college football teams. It's really, really hard to win national championships, and having that as your only metric of coaching success is insanity. TSL had a good article a few months ago which, long story short, said that Tech overachieved by even GETTING to the NC game in '99. We're the only sub-$100 million athletic program to even make the BCS title game. Here's what we do have: one of the highest graduation rates in the NCAA, a clean program, multiple, recent conference championships, a solid recruiting platform, a solid-to-very-good coaching staff, and an influx of young talent into the program. This is NOT the time to think about cleaning house because we're not satisfied with 8 wins. That's how you end up looking like UVA.
I wish I could use cryogenics and freeze myself until next season started.

I think it's nuts to replace him when he is obviously making changes and they may be good ones.
I'll take a guy that gives me year after year of 10-11 win seasons and drops to 7-8 wins in down seasons when he makes huge changes.
And don't forget the mispronounced names and the SEC season review. There were no SEC teams in the game.
Tech does not currently have the same caliber of skill players that used to make those plays. It is showing on the offense too.
He was the MVP. If he doesn't knock out Logan, there's a very real chance that we win that game.

Your right but I think that that is a game that we should win, also aTm does have a terrible defense...
I don't consider waiting 27 years as necessarily being greedy. Sure, if it was the first few years in and I was expecting a championship, that's insane. But I've waited nearly 3 decades and nada. I don't view Texas as being greedy at all, I view them as progressive. They realized, just like Florida State, that you can't think with your heart and you have to think with your mind. Look where that got FSU this year. I wouldn't feel bad at all about pushing Frank out the door if it put us where FSU is this year.
Sloppy was all due to veteran players not in the lineup.
FG missed due to 1st FG attempt in a game by a new kicker.
QB scrambles killed us because our AA Fuller was not in the game.
That horrible decision was because of young Oline and an inexperienced QB trying to do too much.
Most of the other errors were due to F and So players trying to do their best but not having the experience yet.
I still can't believe he didn't get ejected.
It was obvious he caught Thomas's chin with the helmet, very hard. Thomas was lifted off his feet.
Sure, you can remember that, but this isn't the 90's or early 2000's anymore. We don't feel that way now. We expect to beat bad teams, yet year after year we lose to at least one or two teams that are worse than we are. I personally wish for the bowl streak to end so Beamer supporters really lose their one of two counter arguments to keep him.
And it's not just a trying couple of years, it's been a trying decade. Suffering all the losses we have (Boise, Michigan - I don't care if everyone says Danny Coale caught that ball, we lost regardless of that -, JMU, ECU, etc.) have just made it insufferable to be a fan. Why do opposing teams call us the Chokies? Because they're right, we do. What can we possibly say back to someone when they say that? 21 straight bowls? Great, 21 bowls with a losing record.
Special teams killed Miami.
We got lucky on a few of these besides solidifying #HughesforHeisman. The Miami returns were going to be huge but don't count for much if the ball goes to the other team.

Be careful what you wish for. A 7 and an 8 win season are NOT reason for panic. You can't just say "he hasn't won a championship. Fire him." That's not the way the world works, or else 125 head coaches would be fired every year. If you get greedy as a fanbase (hello, Texas) and fire a guy for "only" winning 8 games, you end up with a UVA situation or Stanford in the mid-2000's (hint: they lost a LOT more games than they won). Give the new staff a couple years to get the offense back on track and make one last run for Frank. At the very least, he'll leave the program in a better place for the next guy.
I think we played 2 teams that were sub-par this year. If it's that easy to do, why aren't there more coaches up there with him? A lot of us remember feeling blessed to go to the Gator bowl or worse. I can remember when every Tech win over UVA was an upset. No question is been a trying couple of years but calling out the big man does nothing productive here.
And we can't overwork those same guys because there are not enough of them and they break.
