I like this idea a lot. I agree that adding Navy could coerce ND into joining the ACC as a full member, and adding Navy to get Notre Dame is a bonus for all of us. We should feel honored if they consider it.
The one thing that gets me about this idea, though, is the toughness of the southern contingent. I think you've divided out the conference as well as it could be divided, but the league is unbalanced with the power of the south. I saw a poster up a bit suggest mixing the divisions a bit to balance that out, and I agree with that. I think if you get Miami and FSU in the south, UVA/VT in the middle somewhere, and ND/BC/Navy in a division you should be good.
What is the thought about inter-pod games? Go to a 9 game schedule and intermingle who you play from the other pods (all 3 teams in your pod, plus two teams from each of the other three pods)? I like this, as it should allow any student to play home and away against all conference opponents in their 4-year careers.

Auburn and GT run a similar style of offense. They both incorporate a dive/pitch/keep in their run game but outside of that they are very different. The reason Auburn dominates where GT doesn't, IMO, is that they have the offensive line talent to pass block more effectively, talented recievers on the outside and a QB that is a true triple threat.
This game will likely play out as most games did this season in my opinion. The defense will play great and put up good numbers but it won't be enough to win the game.
I stopped reading after I got this far. Why? Because when you say "play out as most games did this season" and then follow up with "won't be enough to win the game" it makes absolutely no sense.
I'm sorry but 8 Wins is more than 4 Losses. Therefore, MOST of our games (8) ended up as wins instead of losses (4)

I would wager that most of the people in Huntsville are transplants and not actually from Alabama. But I get your point. I don't actually know if the person I met was from Huntsville or not, but he easily could have been.

I think alot of PJs of success has come at the advantage of teams having only a week to prepare for GTs offense. As we have seen with their crappy bowl record under PJ (1-5?), some time to prepare makes them look like a mediocre team.

Coming in, PJ was all about selling "Navy, but with bcs caliber players", but they are only battling navy/army/air force for offensive recruits and their defense never be great since they can't simulate passing the ball like every other team does in practice

I just feel he could be a liability in this game in pass pro against UCLA's big front seven, and he hasn't shown the production in the run game to balance out his pass pro weaknesses. Just my opinion.
They definitely did. Kids get lost in the shuffle. Facyson committed fairly early in the process, didn't do a lot of camps and dropped off the radar.
Of Tech's 4 losses, 3 have been by 7 points or less (Bama:-15)
It will be close - turnovers, luck, and officiating will make or break it.

Yes, which is why the Hokies have struggled to land elite defensive tackle and linebacker prospects during most of the 90's. The slanting front and "Free Hitter" design are as different to NFL schemes as the flexbone. Despite the Hokies defensive success, teams that recruit against the Hokies note how few front seven guys have become successful NFL players. Until Worilds this year, most have been role players at best.
I'm hoping that phreak or some kind Hokie will be posting a link to see this one for those of us far away. Always wanted to play the Bruins. Also, will there be any type of pre-game show?

In the end the offense will not be able to generate enough offense on the score board to come up with the victory. Hopefully, the Hokies get some breaks and force UCLA into mistakes that lead to easy points. If the Hokies can score at least two none offensive TDs and get at least one short field, they can pull off the upset. As bad as the UCLA front line is we should play in the backfield like in the Pittsburgh game..Go Hokies!

In the open field, probably not, no. But still, the last couple games he's shown the ability to make sharp, decisive cuts and get upfield. That counts for something, IMO.
Is JC as good as Mike Imoh? If your answer is no, then remember that Mike Imoh is the worst Hokie starting RB since Lamont Pegues. I know he is a good kid, but he doesn't show any of the elusiveness you need to be successful as a small back.
