For the love of all that is good in this world, I hope not. Let's face it, there are 4-5 teams each year that legitimately deserve/have a shot at a championship. Just look at this season. The biggest debate (up until last night, of course) was who was the best between FSU, OSU and Auburn. Throw Bama in there for good measure. No one in the world gives a hoot about South Carolina's or Oklahoma State's national championship aspirations. I don't want to see the championship playoff watered down that much. We've got 3 games containing the top 4 teams that have proven over the entire course of the regular season that they are truly championship contenders. I know we all love the thought of a Cinderella story and yes, "any given Saturday" still very much applies in the postseason. Still, I don't want a system based on the possibility of fluke wins. I want to know who the best team is out of the top 4 best regular season performers. That is and always will be (until college football again changes so that the number of legit NC contenders increases) my definition of the college football national champion.

This is a bit lengthy and not at all meant as a personal shot at you, Griffer. Just been on my mind for the past year or so.

Also, I'd be in favor of expanding the playoff field, but I think it's ludicrous to guarantee spots based on a conference championships. Give me an 8- or 16-team field with the 8 or 16 best teams. A team winning its conference is a great accomplished, but all it proves is said team won its conference. College basketball is able to guarantee those bids because it's a 68-team field, and parity is more rampant. Also, limiting appearances by conference makes no sense to me either. Again, give me the best teams.

Not really... At least by naming two teams they get to play each other and decide it on the field. That's what makes it a "play" off.

Things are shaping up quite nicely.

Time to start prepping for the Ohio State university. UCLA will be for fun, but there is work to be done.

I hope the system doesn't go to an 8-game playoff. Why? Because these are college kids, not paid NFL players who play 16+ games per season. It's unfair for college athletes to play 12 regular season games, a conference title, and then potentially 3 additional postseason games. Sure, it would be a more effective way to find a national champion, but after an 8-team playoff, an 8-team playoff fan base would be rabbling for more.

So......
Cat #1 (the one on it's back) represents the uva football team: It is getting completely abused by a large arm. Yet, as it passes in front of the camera, it shows complete indifference to it's situation. Most cats, (at least the ones that I have met) would at a minimum give a meow or put up at least a bit of resistance. But this one doesn't-it seems content to be pushed around on it's back on an area rug or linoleum flooring.
Meanwhile, Cat #2 represents the uva fanbase. It is seemingly giving itself a bath rather than paying any mind to the plight of it's brethren on the floor. Which, to me, shows that Cat #2 doesn't have any emotional attachment to Cat #1 and has no interest in even watching the spectacle on the floor-it has seen this done many times before.
The Dog on the couch represents Coach London. He is watching, with some interest, Cat #1 getting used, and looks like he would even try to help. But as a dog, he at least realizes that he does not possess the needed intellect or capability to challenge to large arm, and change Cat #1's situation.
The large arm, of course belongs to Bud Foster.

Grimes? Torrian Gray would have to be the DC after Bud. He's the best defensive coach on our staff, plus he's just as insane as Bud.

Yea, apparently he played on a co-ed IM flag football team for a half because the IM people didn't know the rules on former first round NFL running backs being allowed to play in IM sports.

Maybe I'm blind. They all just run around the stables anyway, couldn't really care which one was which.

The biggest problem I had with the BCS was the computer formula secrecy and the absolute incompetence of the Harris poll voters.

Conspiracy theories: I think the formulas were kept secret because of at least one of these two things: 1) Margin of victory was actually counted, but they didn't want teams running up scores for no reason, so they had to keep that piece of the formula secret or 2) there was a component in the formulas rating the history of the programs, all time wins, or accounted for previous seasons or had manually alterable formula components such that there existed a level of control over the championship game participants that humans still controlled.

This was my thought, too. I think Stiney's experience at VT would make him a better program manager/head coach at a JMU or a Richmond, while Shane, I think, needs a few more years with heightened responsibilities to really get him ready to be a head coach, even at a smaller school. Either way, if Shane ends being a coach of ours in the future, I think he should spend some time as a head coach at a smaller school to find his feet in the position. I hate to say it, but I think Bud might need that, too. But I'll take the risk with Bud, if it comes to it.

My favorite part of that article is that the author refuses to mention VT. The LOLUVA football club doesn't die unless we crush it's neck with a boot.
