# | FSU winning the ACC, ranked #1 and favorites in the NC game ... Great for the ACC What happened in Charlotte happened the way it happened and it was the best thing to happen when combined with what happened in Indianapolis and what happened in Atlanta.
The SEC has won, what, 7 straight MNCs? If an SEC team hadn't been in the MNC, there would always be people bitching about how FSU and OSU, who played schedules about as tough as a half-empty cardboard box of rubber dildos, met in the MNC and decided who was champion without playing the SEC champ.
That OSU lost to Michigan State seems to support the idea that OSU wasn't truly as dominant as their record suggested (don't confuse this as an indictment of OSU and MSU, they're both top 15 teams at least). That FSU won in dominant fashion despite looking like they didn't have it together (albeit against Duke, even though this isn't your dad's Duke) seems to support the idea that their schedule strength is viewed as poor in part because FSU pummeled everyone. That's the way this is playing out.
But we get our SEC/FSU MNC, thank goodness. No one can bitch and moan about it (maybe Baylor or MSU, because their losses to OkSt and ND, respectively, aren't all that bad, and not much worse than Auburn's loss to LSU). But we have one undefeated team in major college football and he champion of the Greatest Conference To Ever Exist On The Planet Earth In The Solar System In The Universe.
But you know what? I like it like this. Since the SEC started their run of MNCs, they've played the Big Ten (OSU), the PAC 10 (Oregon), the Big 12 (Texas and Oklahoma), the SEC, and Notre Dame. The ACC hasn't gotten a shot at them in the MNC yet. And with all the talk over the last decade of how bad the ACC is compared to the other conferences, wouldn't it be so #gocollegefootball for the ACC to be the ones to dethrone the mighty SEC?

I can see your point. I believe that a tournament is the only pure way to decide a championship. I am stoked about what is coming down the pike, and I suspect that once it gets legs, it may expand. Time will tell. I really like the idea of number four, or yes even number 8, winning two or three games in a row to take it all.

Winning on the road in the ACC is always good. Tech went 1-3 from the free throw line even with an overtime, never seen that.

I just read the rule book. None of the specific items you listed result in a penalty.
Eh, I could go either way on the 8/16 best teams vs. some spots guaranteed for conference winners. I'm not suggesting that all the mid majors get automatic bids for winning their conferences, but I don't see any reason not to guarantee a spot for the five major conference champions (which, two years back, could have seen a 7-6 UCLA in the playoff picture had they won the conference championship game where they replaced a banned USCw).
I do think there should be a limit on how many teams get in from each of the conferences, though. This year we could have had Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, USCe, and LSU all get in from the SEC, leaving out Clemson, UCLA, Oregon, Oklahoma State, or Ohio State (all of whom were good, but none of whom won their conferences, three of which didn't win their divisions).
In college football, there is no Florida Gulf Coast-type team getting into the tournament. Maybe this is for the best. I don't buy that there are no cinderellas in CFB, because as soon as the 8 seed pops up and beats a 1 (which I think is much more likely than a 16 beating a 1 in the March tournament), they become the feel good underdog.
Unless it's OSU or LSU. To hell with them.

I agree that the people who still bash him are complete dicks. I've heard of people yelling "You suck!" at him on the streets, and that is both classless and beneath us as Hokie fans. I agree with you, he wasn't that bad of a QB. I tried to like Glennon, but it was much easier to blame him for our shortcomings; especially given the fact that the 2006 team had an All-ACC tailback, 4 future NFL wide receivers and the nation's #1 defense. He also didn't help himself with his attitude off the field; I remember a Collegiate Times article where he completely bashed his O-line, saying that if he had BC's O-line, he'd be putting up numbers like Matt Ryan.
I will say that I gained more respect for him as time went on. It was nice to know during the 2008 season that if Tyrod went down with an injury (which happened quite often) that we had a reliable QB that could step in and lead our offense.
So yes, I can see how Glennon could be a favorite of yours. People forget that he had some very solid wins for us, including the 2007 GT game and the 2007 ACC Championship game, in which he was named MVP.

Yep, it did what it was supposed to do. Those who don't like it don't remember how stupid and flawed the previous system and how that system could have evolved with no access to the non SEC and B10 teams.
Their season ends sooner and in some cases they play less games than FBS Schools. Look their bracket starts On november 30. With the way the regular season and the conference championships are set up, right now the playoffs wouldnt start until at the earliest December 14th.
I agree, the human aspect of the BCS poll was rather silly
I'm not a fan of this play off system because, its eventually going to lead to this NFL type playoff where 16 teams make the field. If that happens game will be being played in February...You cant be asking college students, with projects and finals, to play a fall sport....in February.

...I only wish we weren't 0-5 in those games... Sigh.
