Nah, I don't actually believe that conversation happened. But I do believe it could have happened. My point was just that you can't say he should have sacked up and said it publicly. A) Even he wanted to Beamer would never had let him and B) there is a small chance that they did have the conversation.

That's a fair point and something that I didn't think about. I wonder if the media would have ran with it if there wasn't a "Virginia Tech response" to it.

Well, as much as I agree that LOLUVA is on par with Randolph-Macon, unfortunately recruits, media and everyone else likes to believe that they are in fact our state rival. Despite the ten years of dominating evidence to the contrary.
The reason why VT doesn't respond to Randolph-Macon is because they are not our "rival". The reason Shane responded to Fairchild is precisely because they are. And again Shane did not say anything demeaning toward Fairchild or LOLUVA, so in no way can I see it as a wrong decision. It's OK to disagree but I will always be OK with Shane publicly bitch slapping the likes of Fairchild with clear headed, factual dislike.
In all honesty, probably for the better for all parties. The kid needs to take some more visits and go to some camps - figure things out. I feel sure he will come back to VT if it is right for him.

He must be killing it if he got the extra star AFTER committing to us. Rivals usually saves the extra star if a recruit commits to Notre Dame or USC.

You give a platform when you respond to comments like that to the media. Beamer gave Fairchild some level of credence when he publicly responded. That's an idiotic thing to do.
When someone from Randolph-Macon states that they have a better football team than Virginia Tech, do you think Shane Beamer should respond? No. Why? Because the statement is flippant and illogical and doesn't and shouldn't warrant a public response from any individual from our coaching staff.
If Beamer publicly said "Well I disagree with RMC being better than VT," and then gave a short speech on why that was the case (as he did to Andy Bitter about Fairchild) it gives credence to the initial statement. Why make a comment when everyone in the known world knows it to be a ridiculous statement? Did you think people out there would be confused?
Even the Wahoos trashed Fairchild when he made that statement, Beamer didn't have to say anything. But because he did, our coaching staff comes off like we're threatened by UVA. We're fucking Virginia Tech, we don't get threaten by teams that didn't even win a game in their conference. That's why I was upset.
Granted, it's not something we're going to lose recruits over and overall Shane has done a tremendous job with recruiting so it's not like I'm disparaging him or calling for his head. I'd just like him to not feed the troll.
This is kind of surprising. Not claiming that I know him well, but I talked with him on a few occasions last year and he seemed like a good guy. He was also a bouncer so he obviously had experience with drunk people.
That wasn't to make sure he could repopulate the earth though. Those were all snacks for later.

The 2013 season was a success.
For many reasons, this should be self-evident to all Hokie fans. Nonetheless, Ill explain my reasoning
To start off, we have had one of the best seasons on the defensive front in school history. Our Freshman produced right away; Kendall Fuller brought home ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year. With that said, our offense was pedestrian (at best). I believe that although there were many circumstances that could have gone our way in the Duke, BC, and Maryland games; this season exemplifies how scrappy teams such as our selves live AND die by the sword.
Throughout the season, we consistently failed to move the ball. David Wang fell victim to nearly every defensive front we faced. Look no farther than our inability to do a simple QB sneak from under center when the game was on the line and we had three inches to gain for the first down.
We could have lost to ECU, and we seemingly stole the win from Marshall (again, if Willie Byrn did not catch the dropped INT in the final moments of regulation against Marshall, imagine the discussion we would be having now)
Additionally, we did not put away Pitt, GT, Carolina, and Virginia when we should have done so.
Our full offensive body of work throughout the season shows that most of the time, we put up barely enough points to win every game (except Alabama) IF we were to play flawless/unrealistically well on defense and special teams. In the games that we won, our defense managed to do just that. But this day and age of football you simply cannot do that to your defense and expect to win consistently against any team. Contrary to those who think that we were snake-bitten this season, we actually were very fortunate to win eight games.
As far as the future goes, it is looking bright. We return most of our starters on defense. I may catch flak for saying this, but our offense will better with Mark Leal under center as opposed to Logan.
Im not saying that I dont appreciate what Logan has done for our program, the records he has broken, etc. However, he/we turned the ball over the second most of any player in CFB over the past couple years. Im sorry, but under NO circumstances can you be successful on offense when you do that. (Dont try to blame Knowles for all the interceptions he throws.)
The thing is, we dont need a good offense, we just need an average one. We dont need Logan to do it all. With our defense, an average offense would have allowed us to finish the season with one loss. Mark Leal is the ultimate game manager: his quick release, coupled with conservative decision making and catchable throws will allow us to pass without the mind-numbing worry of a pick-six every time we drop back to throw the football. As far as running backs go, we may have become spoiled with Ryan Williams, Darren Evans, David Wilson, etc. I think Edmunds progression is on par with "a smaller Cedric Humes", however, he isn't an elite runner that can carry the team. His lack of balance and ability to keep his footing sets him back. He is solid, but I think Marshawn Williams will be key contributor next year.
All in all, I think we should all be reminded of our humble roots and realize how fortunate we have been, even this past season. We have the chance to play a PAC-12 team in the Sun Bowl and finish the season with 9 wins. We should feel confident that the opener against Ohio State will be a great, close game. We'll everything to gain, because win or lose, our ACC and BCS aspirations will still be intact.

Did they throw a soda machine off the top floor? It happened my freshman year and I heard that was "traditional". Pritchard when it was all male was insane. 4th floor wing was kinda isolated but still Pritchard.

It's better that Lewis and his parents take the time to figure out what they want to do, rather than discovering at the last minute they want to go elsewhere.
This also allows TG the time to find more good quality 2015 DBs (which he's going to do anyway), regardless of whether or not Lewis decides to come to Tech.
So how a listener or interprets a word defines the offense, rather than how the speaker intends it? That's a life on eggshells, my friend.
Which goes back to my earlier gaily made request of a list of words that are acceptable for use, and also, the expiration date on the usability of those words before they too are unconscionably offensive to some party that is determined to be offended.
