apparently even if Duke beats UNC, we could still get to Charlotte if either UVA or Pitt can beat Miami and Wake can beat Duke. That 2nd scenario requires two longshots to come true, but hey it's the ACC. I'll be pulling for Wake and UVA (gulp) upsets on Saturday.

I really hope so. I've been saying, "Bah! Maybe next year!" for too many years since, at least, January of 2000 which was literally the closest we were to getting a crystal football in our empty trophy case.

I think we are going about this the wrong way.
Of course I want VT to go to the ACCCG. That means one more day of tailgating, shower beers to Enter Sandman, hanging out with family and friends, eating food that is terribly bad for you, a week of hoping for a big Hokie win. One more Hokie football weekend would be awesome IMO.
The result of the game is important to me - but I enjoy the time leading up to a game a whole lot. Can't do that if we aren't playing!
I think the scoring this yr is more sustainable with more dribble drive/penetration than last year's dependance on threes and outside shooting. When we went cold it was over for us. 1st game we played this yr without true veteran leadership, I think this team is built to make some noise and will get better more experience. I have to say I'm impressed...and even more surprised.

I disagree. Beamer's tragic flaw is his inability to see when one of his assistant coaches isn't working out right and getting rid of them too late (see every time he gets rid of an assistant). I think we're on the right track for that now. So there's my first point.
That was my very first take on this discussion. It still is. Frank is to blame that we had those bad coaches for as long as we did. I'll be the first to say it. But Frank went and got new coaches. We have new coaches now. Give them a chance to put a team together. When they do that, we should start seeing teams that have their act together.
I'm saying Boise state beat us because they had better game planning. I'm saying JMU beat us because it was a short weak, and they had better game planning. We don't recruit better than them. We didn't recruit with a gameplan. We're seeing a different philosophy this year in recruiting. There's a plan. I'm not saying that we're not one of the most talented teams on the field. I'm saying our talent doesn't make sense. We have all of these talented players for a great passing game but no offensive line.
And again, I do blame Beamer for keeping Stinespring and O'Cain around for too long. I won't argue that. But I don't think that means we get rid of Beamer right after he went and tried to fix that mistake.
Impressive film! I really like the fact that he wears #42 and isn't caught up in being cool. It's something small but it says a lot about him in my opinion.
For those that don't know, in high school and college it's "cool" to have the lowest number possible. Consequently, the single digits and teens are usually worn by the stars or the cool kids (in most cases, being a star and one of the popular ones go hand in hand.. There's actually "cool standards" in regards to what facemask one wears too but I won't get into that now). I'm sure Marshawn could get any number he wants, he chose good ol ugly 42. Says to me, "I'm not worried about the shine, I just want to pound the rock."

Yup, just saw that. I also noticed that he has an original no "F" given for almost everyone, and they all made me either laugh or chuckle. I think I am really going to like it here.
