It wasn't the interior of the line - it was Wang. He got manhandled all day. (And I'll be waiting for the ubiquitous Wang liners).

Yes.
This could be the most awesome act of foolishness ever.
I like it.
And they could auction them off after the game to help fight equine obesity.

when you build it, you can keep it as long as you want to. no questions asked. none.

They do have some level of talent, but please stop with we don't have enough talent

I have never once said this, and in fact argue against people that do say it. I think there are two separate issues that people are pushing here, but neither can be completely blamed for our current problems (which are also not nearly as dire as people tend to believe):

1. Lack of recruiting coherency for several years
2. Coaching issues

I think problem (1) is far larger than problem (2), and I still blame problem (2) more squarely on the guys that were just fired. I refuse to pass judgment on Grimes, Moorehead, and Loeffler before they've had a couple of years to implement changes. We have plenty of talent on the field right now, but we need to give them time to mold that talent and develop other new guys into what they want us to be. We're in a rut because the previous coaches were not good enough and the players they brought in did not fit into a true scheme, they're just good football players. That's simply not good enough to get the job done at this level; you have to have a plan. I remain convinced that they did not have a good enough plan, but lots of love to our guys on the field right now who are busting their butts to try to win in a system that is brand new to them.

Sheesh...felt like I woke up in the DNC headquarters. Nothing to do with horses or treadmills.

("tell republicans...", "stop the koch brothers...", "help the EPA ban AIR...", "in 28 [red] states you can still [fill in the blank]...", "tell kerry to ban airplane exaust...")

I'm not talking about that at all. I'm saying that Bud Foster would be a good head coach. I'm saying HCFB won't be HC forever. I'm saying that a Bud Transition would go better than most changeovers. (Again, see "Fulmer, Phil" and "Tennessee, University of, drain, swirled down" in the encyclopedia.

I'm also saying that a change from Frank to Bud might allow us to move toward that NC - the one that we went for, yet plateaued in the attempt. Will it happen - it's certainly no guarantee. But it might put a change in the air, from the whiff of complacency people can sense.

And maybe it might break the "we can only recruit in the Commonwealth of Virginia" mentality that we also have - in my opinion. It's been said the other 49 states play the game at the high school level, too. But that's probably another subject for a different thread.

Damn dude when I read your post I just assumed you had well over a couple 100 Turkey Legs then looked up and saw the single digits. A very well thought out and worded post, Welcome to TKP sir you will fit in just fine. We need more newcomers like dubdub and less "trolls" calling for CFB's firing/forced retirement.

Hi Andy,

First, great article. Could not agree more with your point about Auburn and Lefty.

My question, you've been around two fan bases (that I know of) that annually have championship expectations and have seen their team falter in some way. As a comparison which fan base do you see handles the situation more maturely? I know this is a trap question if you say Auburn but I'm curious.

Think maybe they're do for a name change (and this is an honest question)?

My dad used to work in the veterinary college and the satelite equine hospital is sort of not a part of VPISU at all because it was abandoned. It's now sort of a self contained type deal. On the other hand, treadmill horse.

I won't downvote you, I want your comment to be 100% inaccurate.

Only because the horse on a treadmill is ours and ours alone. No hard feelings!

Devil's advocate here. Since the veterinary college is a joint venture between Tech and Maryland, isn't it possible that the horse on the treadmill is partly theirs? Why do I feel my turkey legs slipping away?

for those of you who weren't at the game, here's a fan video of the commercial played. it doesnt quite start at the beginning but you get the idea. as a friend of mine put it, "who else has an 60,000 person inside joke?"

My reasons for disagreeing with this post:

1. Our younger players and coaching staff need every opportunity to gameplan and play against the best teams and on big stages. If we ever want another shot at the National Championship, coaches and players would be better served having an ACCCG against the #2 team in the country under their belts. SEC schools know what it's like to play big games (strong opponents, large crowds, and media frenzy) multiple times a year, and I think that's aided their title runs.

2. Competing on such a high level draws bigger recruits who want to play on big stages.

3. Our seniors deserve another (big) game. You can guarantee tons of scouts will be on hand and will comb through the game film, and see how our guys measure up against top talent. Could wind up getting a HOKIE a shot in an NFL camp, which is a plus in my eyes.

A win will silence the whiners and haters and shut them up (or in Beamer's case stave them off for a time).
