What about famous Jameis?
And we all know what Beamers record is against top 5, top 10 teams away from home is. And even if we pulled a win out At Miami and made the ACCCG, we'd be big underdogs at the neutral site against FSU who, if they win out, would be top 3 and maybe 2 IF Oregon stumbled.
Never ever ever say Grant Noel is or was a good QB. Never ever ever...
I hate to say this because typically I believe that anything is possible if there is any glimmer of hope left, but this season is, for all meaningful purposes, is pretty much over. I know that we can still beat Miami and win out to make the ACCCG, but reality is not as kind. If we have already lost to Duke and BC, we are not going to be able to accomplish this.
Even if we beat Miami, assuming Miami loses tonight to Florida State, and win out, if Duke doesn't lose again in the ACC they will go to the ACCCG as they will have beaten both Miami and us.
Which would make Tyrod a true sophomore who split time his freshman year. Can't compare his sophomore year and Logan's 5th year, third year starting. However, it also isn't fair to compare anyone to Danny Coale. Probably the most reliable receiver in Virginia Tech history.
That kind of comment gets posted because the opposite usually gets thrown out "Logan Haters" when he has a miracle game....there are usually three or four posts of "Take that Logan Haters" I don't tend to fall in either category but at this point, I would like to see what Leal can do with a week of prep as the designated starter, just to get an idea of what to expect next year......Logan does enough damage (regardless of whether its the offensive line not blocking or the receivers not getting open) he throws balls too hard into places that shouldn't be attempted too often or loses the ball scrambling when most QBs would have thrown the ball away and with that a world class defense is wasted and I think he should consider taking some snaps at TE to showcase his ability there. At this point, if we beat Miami (assuming Miami is going to lose to FSU tonight as they are down 21-7 right now, and Duke doesn't lose again, Duke goes to the conference title game even if we win out.
The ice cold one BEING the actual chill pill.
I am interested in seeing what Leal could do.
I agree in that if he is who we plan on starting next year then some experience would be nice.
I just am afraid of what it could do to the mentality of the entire team. Logan is the leader and everyone on the team at least seems to be behind him. Last thing I want is the team to fall apart.
But in my honest opinion or prediction, I don't think Leal can be good enough or he would have already gotten a shot. He may not make bone-headed plays like Logan sometimes but I think he'd be "forced" into turning it over as in not having the physicality or arm strength Logan has that allows him to get away with some things. For instance, I believe if Leal starts today, we lose by a touchdown or FG in a much lower scoring game. Yet, if Logan plays well today we win by 2 touchdowns or more. I could be totally wrong but only time will tell.
One thing I will say for sure, a game managing QB can only be successful managing the game with at least an above average running game. Whether we don't have one or are not giving it a chance to develop I do not know, but Leal would have a tough time without a running game and I'm feel pretty confident in saying that.
I think Leal would also limit our offense even more than it is limited now so that would be trouble as well. Our short passing game may improve but our mid level to deep passing attack would weaken.
Like I said though, hard to know without him having a chance out there. This is all my guess and going off the coaches.
Exactly. Much as I hate we lost again, I didn't even get to watch it either. Wife got called off work, she works weekends, so we got family time in all day today. As much as I love to watch the Hokies, good or bad, I have family time that matters more. Wins are just icing on the cake.
We can still beat BooVa/LOLUVA. There is that bright spot to hope for.
As a senior officer in a battalion I was in once told the officers in the battalion, " sometimes you have to look yourself in the mirror and say I'm just not that good".
That is where we are right now.
And "devoid of clutch... Let us not speak of it."
Stanford, meanwhile, had six catches for a career-high 171 yards Saturday, the most ever by a Hokies receiver in a losing effort under Beamer. Bittersweet?
Ernest Wilford had 279 in a losing effort to Syracuse in 2002. THAT one hurt.
I agree Logan is a good kid. Trying to win games with what he's got on offense, but his stock is going down with NFL scouts the way hspis decision making has been the past two years. Can blame that ona combination of new OC, QB coaches, questionable receivers and no run game. But if he has time in the pocket he still isn't going through progessions as he should after starting the last three years. He's actually gone downhill. Of course with his size maybe a team would pick him up as a 3rd string or backup and work with him or move him to a TE. Hell who knows. I just wish him the best of luck the rest of the year and hope he comes around and wins a few more games. Only time will tell.
I got some yard work done, had a great work out, my daughter learned to ride without training wheels, got some family time in and I get to sleep in past 5AM tomorrow.....may even get a trail ride in tomorrow.
And somewhere back there is the fact that my Hokies lost today.
Perspective.....
It hurts to say this, but based on play. Exum should definitely be the backup for Facyson.
I won't speak to the whole post, but on the OL: we seem to not have had a decent one for some time now. And that's included years where the OL is largely Junior/Senior based. Again, at what point do say: talent or not, the coaches aren't getting the most out of it?
What is this studying you speak of? I did no such thing in college. But I guess I need to work on my grad school exam that's due Monday.
And it's wallowing.
I continue to maintain that someone was hitting up the Polyjuice Potion today...
Exhibit A: Ole Miss.
Exhibit B: Tennessee.
Exhibit C: LOLUVA.
Exhibit D: Kentucky.
All teams that are usually worse than us. All teams whose current recruiting classes are ranked higher than ours.
More lipstick needed in isle "3".
Really? REALLY?
David Lamie 1977-78 was the worst
Agree. When I think of glennon that's the game I think of.
2/4? I count both fumbles and the pick 6 100% against him.

I'm looking forward to Ford, because he is Leftys guy. He is a pro style QB and that is what lefty wants. I think the dual threat QB may be causing some issues with the game plan.
I am excited about QB battle next year.
