While I agree with you, especially with the lack of Edmunds in the game-plan, the 2nd INT was completely inexcusable. VT cannot overcome easy TDs on returns while the defense sits on the sidelines. The offense isn't good enough.

I am not saying Logan is the sole reason for the loss, because he's the reason VT scored 27 pts. Blame also sits on Knowles (INT lead to BC TD), McLaughlin (fumble led to BC FG), Jarrett (missed diving tackle for BC's 1st TD), Exum (fell on easy INT attempt), Wang (called for holding on a VT TD), Meyer (huge drops on 3rd and 4th downs), amongst others. And I'm not sure who was at fault for the 62 yd TD, maybe bad defensive design, but that was also a huge play at a critical moment. However, Logan's Pick6 was easily the worst play of the game, which, unfortunately for Logan, negates so many of the positives of the game.

Chad Morris also went to a team running the spread and just taught them a slightly different spread. And was given Sammy Watkins and numerous top 10/15 classes loaded with offensive talent

Exactly. In the future, when I look back at this week, I'll remember it for hearing my first child's heartbeat for the first time. For finally getting my immersion circulator in the mail & having a sous vide ribeye. We lost a football game. The world continues to turn.

1.7ypc isn't something to write home about, though the called back big run would've helped. That said he seems much better when not forced to run the tradition and inverted veer as French has pointed out. Really wish I understood why we don't run more from under center.

The first fumble was McLaughlin's fault. Can't blame a QB for fumbling when a DE hits him from the blind-side, that's the Tackle's fault.

Does anybody see a trend here? In the past 4 weeks the Hokies have gotten revenge on the two teams that beat them last year and have lost to two teams they beat last year. Well I guess that means we'll definitely beat Miami then.

May have posted a little below this, whoops...

...but additionally, I think it's unfair to skew Edmunds stats (which aren't great) because he isn't being put in a position to succeed. Most of his hand offs are taken away from him by Logan in the read option/veer look. I'd like to venture we'd be decent in a pro-style set that we used to run, in the I-form, with a FB blocker because that is a scheme set up to take advantage of Trey's skills...not robbing him of each read option handoff and giving him the ball only when the defense is already on top of the QB exchange.

I'm saying that any player experiencing a similar slump would be benched in any other position. Sean Glennon didn't turn the ball over nearly as often and was yanked in game two for a quarterback with legs, which you could argue wasted one of the best receiver corps VT has had. Mark Leal is mobile, I'm not trying to compare him to Tyrod, but maybe most of this has to do with scheme. We aren't fooling anybody at this point with pre-snap motion and meshing the read option. There is no schematic advantage to what we're running now, and I absolutely believe they will not (or should not) run it next year because outside of LT, nobody fits a QB-focused power run game.

I love Logan as much as the next guy (well...looking through some of these threads....maybe not...). Your statement is pretty true, we have no home run threat. But we can't have a home run threat if we only hand off the ball to our top 2 running threats 9 times in a game....

I don't know who's fault that is, but hell, we were never down by more than 7 points until the end of the game, run the fucking ball with someone other than the QB!

Agreed 100% - does Logan deserve criticism? Sure. Especially for that pick-6 (it was just terrible). Is he the root cause of our offensive ineptitude? Hell no. A dearth of playmakers is the root cause, and that goes back to recruiting, I guess.

Kim Jong Un: A screaming little toddler who doesn't really understand what's going on around him, but thinks that by throwing a little hissy fit, the world will be made all better for him.

It's funny because that's exactly what this thread sounds like! Hahahaha.....anyways, looking at his posts, those angry posts were closer to the end of the game than his others, so maybe he was just angry. Also, the posts where it got real nasty were his responses to people telling him to STFU etc etc etc. Just sayin'.

So let's all stop acting like 'Hoos and self-hating Hokies and get along.

There's another thread on this same subject - why start another?

So the lack of talent around him is why Logan decided to loft a pass up for grabs in the middle of the field when the game was tied?

By all accounts, Logan Thomas the human being is a hard worker and a good kid. Logan Thomas the QB is infuriating and continues to make mistakes that a 5th year senior who has started 30+ games shouldn't make.

I'm not sure how much fun it would be to be the sacrificial lamb for FSU in Charlotte.

Although if that craziness happens, sets up the perfect chance for LT to go out in a blaze of glory

He showed some real YAC ability too. Had some impressive moves.

no, if we beat them and win out, it comes down to tie-breakers, and we'd have the head-to-head. Only team that would have an advantage over us is Duke, and that'd require them to win out.
