As long as I have been a Hokie (not very long), BC has been terrible at football so I have no ill will towards them :(
You already have 5 turkey legs, though, so does that mean I have to down vote you to get you to where you wanted to be? If a user targets a turkey leg count for a post, then exceeds it, it is against community guidelines to down vote them? TIC
Really? I swore I read that it's "Leal."
No, it's definitely "Leal"
At first I was like

but then I was like

I think I used a # for the first time about 24 hours after the loss when referencing LOLUVA. The stench still won't come off completely.
I'd take the Duke loss and a Miami win. I have a lot of respect for what their coaching staff is building down and I can easily see Duke becoming remaining relevant in the ACC at least for the duration of Cutcliffe's career, they're almost a microcosm of What Beamer has done at VT, a patient coach building a program. Duke gets ok to good athletes and is starting to turn them into good teams, while Miami gets good to great athletes and finds ways to lose to LOLUVA. During the last 6 years against LOLUVA, Duke is 5-1. Over the same time period, Miami is 2-3 and has lost 3 straight)
Also this was mentioned above, but I want to see Miami lose 3 straight. I honestly think Duke is one of the better teams in the Coastal. Its feasible for them to win out. I expect them to finish at least 8-4, beating NC State and either Wake or UNC, and while Miami has better Athletes, I think duke is by far the better coached, more disciplined team. I don't think they have the defense to stop Duke Johnson, but Miami's will have just faced the best 2 defenses in the ACC (both top 10 nationally). FSU is 1st in Scoring (4th nationally), Second in Yards Allowed (8th nationally) and VT is 2nd in Scoring (5th Nationally), 1st in Yards Allowed (third nationally) so their offense may be a little worn down by then.
UGH, on the final clip, if its Marcus Mariota, he makes the correct read, explodes through that hole with Farris in front and steaks to the endzone... sigh
I think they call that a heart attack. You should maybe go to a hospital. Stat.
Great work, French.
So, to answer my second question from the open thread the other day... you DO seem to think that Lefty's playcalling does seem to be "cute" at times.
I will always hate bc after the 2007 game. I will always remember standing in the nez after the game in shock. It was great revenge the acc title game that year and the next. any time we play bc I want to stomp them
I thought you'd be way off base when I scanned your long write-up and saw you mention Malzahn. People are quick to compare him and Loeffler without looking at the entire situation.
After reading your whole write-up, I agree. I'd say Loeffler isn't a great coach. If someone argues he is, what offensive concept did he come up with? But he might be a great QB coach (his resume points to it) and he will land (and teach) the concepts that can make a QB successful. Great QB coaches can be very successful because so much of their coaching is technique and football understanding, rather than athleticism. Spurier and Cuttcliffe are two other great QB coaches, and I think Loeffler could have similar upside.
In a pro-style system, the offense has as much success as the QB. I can see Loeffler landing some big QB recruits in the future (we just missed on the top QB in the last recruiting class, and Ford is a top-tier recruit himself.) Top QBs can make or break an offense (like Matt Ryan at BC) and I think VT's best offensive days are coming in a few years.
I for one am very excited for the QB battle between Motley, Ford, Bucky, and Leal next Spring. I think all have their pluses and minuses and will be desperate to win the job. Ford though may have the inside track. He is obviously talented and is Lefty's guy.
Wait it's 'leal'? I thought it was 'leal'?
The opposing defense was like....

I'm with you there. Felt like I was getting a little taste of it back with the Duke game, but for some reason they just wouldn't stick with it. Side thought - just imagine how good this D would be if we could run the ball and the clock just kept on ticking...
Neither is he...

Annoyed after a 13-10 loss to Duke and they're not sure why. Virginia Tech has a weird, tolerant fanbase.
Probably something like this...

i know its pronounced 'leal' but i still say it as 'leal' in my head
Loeffler really seems to have a potentially great QB with Ford. Can't wait to see how the offense looks in a few years, when we establish ourselves with the new system.
I am not a fan of Jesuits. Fuck Boston College.
Russel Wilson would disagree with you.
To me, Teller has to be on the field. If right tackle is where he gets his opportunity, so be it. The nice part about a zone blocking offense is that tackles can flip-flop pretty easily without re-learning the play book. Pass protection then becomes about comfort. Even though I was slower, I preferred pass blocking as a left tackle because I had an easier time posting a defender with my right arm (at left tackle this keeps the defender outside.) From the right side, I had a much more difficult time.

The cameras do a job except when they get faked out by a hand-off. Which is like every third play.
