i dont exactly remember, i ended up blacking out on mooshine that night. i did ask him to leave though, his yelling and cussing were just going too far and ruining a lot of people's nights. i remember texting him later and telling him the team fought hard, he shouldnt take a loss personal. he does much better now with all that now. in fact, at the duke game he told me i was acting like randy quaid in major league. funny how a few years of maturing can change how you look at sports.
I love it when someone can work boob into a writeup and it make total sense. Agree with most of what you said. I think motivating is one of the most important. If you can motivate your players, that positive can go pretty far and spill into other areas.
I love the whatever is exploding over his shoulder just moments after his "explosion."
Great work Joe. This is to be expected when we lose a game we aren't supposed to lose. Thing is, we are all Hokies. We will brush ourselves off, get ready for BC and move along. Just like the team, some came out of last week a little banged up, but they (and we) are still here for the long haul! Go Hokies and let's put a W on the board this week.
I had no idea Joe worked for the NSA...
Good stuff, Joe, and thanks for posting this. It's very interesting.
At least with the Inverted Veer there are a few options (keep by QB, sweep wide, cut back inside) where as the screen pass is, well, just a screen pass. I'm not too upset with the overall playcalling of the season, let's just hope he fine tunes it to fit the defense he's playing and the situation.
I'm sure there are plenty of people like me, I've been a member for a while but have only recently started contributing to the conversation.
yeah me too
Now I'm curious as to what he did when we had the lead briefly there.
I didn't realize there were that many users! I've only been a member for a couple months now but I LOVE this place and it feels like a much smaller community than that.
That kind of makes sense though, my whole time at Tech I knew it was a huge school but it never felt that big.
thanks for your input on voting habits. It doesn't appear to be as bad as we're all making it out to be.
Don't know if you could look into this (or would even be willing to) but I think I've downvoted maybe 3 comments but I'm certain I've given well over 1000 upvotes by now...any truth to that?
As an aside, remember when Tyrod had that comeback against Nebraska? Or even last week, Conner Shaw against MIzzou? Ever see LT do that in four years? No. He does well in spurts. But his inconsistency bites him.
Indeed he is frustratingly inconsistent, but I will disagree with your conclusion here. In 2012, both the GT and Cinci games featured a clutch drive that LT led to tie the game or put us ahead. Against GT, he had two completions of 20+ yards (albeit to Corey Fuller, who was clutch in his own right) in a drive that marched downfield in 0:44 to tie the game. Against Cinci, he led a drive 93 yards in just under 3:00 to put us ahead, including a 56-yard TD pass (also to Fuller). That should have won the game, but unfortunately the D faltered against Cinci. The BC game also featured a nice drive to tie it, though it featured mostly rushing to control the clock, there was a 33-yarder to Marcus Davis that was key in getting us close to FG range.
Annnnnnnnd now I'm curious about my voting statistics...
That's awesome that a parent of a starter went out of their way to let you know they appreciated the content and attitude of TKP. Keep up the great work Joe!
This is correct, scored with less than a minute left to take a 3 point lead. Also Georgia Tech '12, he had the bomb to Knowles to tie, and then another drive to set up a tying field goal by CJ
I know that the term Slave is a little strong, but I don't think he was trying to say he actually had it as hard as the people who had to work on plantations back in the day. I think he simply meant that as far as the fans were concerned, that's how valuable they were. Valuable to get something out of them, entertainment, or a task of winning games if you will, but not valuable to the average fan as people. I know this isn't always true, but it is for some. One person near me is very much #TeamLeal, and has been since last season. He has come to terms with the idea that Beamer is gonna play Thomas no matter what, so he has literally said "I hope somebody hurts him or something, so that he won't play". He said it in a fit of rage, but come on dude. Really? Comments like those clearly indicate that for some fans, the players are only as valuable as their football achievements, not their lives as humans. I believe the former Duck is talking about these fans.
I'm actually thinking of installing a TV in my carport just so I can yell during our games. LMAO
It scares my Niece when I do this every Saturday. I just can't control myself sometimes...
Joe - thanks for posting this. I agree most people on the site are very respectful. I myself have downvoted a few times by accident...damn you Steve Jobs/iPhone!...seems like it's very easy to hit it when scrolling. Is there a way to change your vote? Once you downvote you can't upvote or remove your vote.
Also, would it make sense to take away from your turkey leg count for providing a vote? Maybe makes sense to "charge" more for downvotes since they are more severe.
Overall top-shelf, man! Best site on the ole internet!
Hey Joe, thanks for all your hard work and effort.
UHH..Miami '11
pretty sure that was a comeback win
Agree 100%. The offense has improved as the year has progressed. And that is a good sign. With some better recruiting and better talent, I think the next few years could see a really tough team. Especially with what we have seen on defense this year.
Agreed. LT is not a tight end, won't be, so let us end it.
yeah, he lost me at slave. while i agree with him that many fans dont appreciate the sacrifices and hard work that college athletes put in, lets not get silly. he chose to play football. he chose to accept that full scholly. he could have walked away at any time. he couldnt you say? how else would he have paid for school? well, i guess he could have worked his way through, supported himself and still racked up the student debt. you know, the way most of us who didnt come from money get an education. dude needs to get over himself.
Griffer, I did not say we will lose. I just said you will see some key plays and go wow .. Logan should have hit that. Winston with FSU, Boyd with Clemson -- they just reliably hit the receiver when he is open (exception is Boyd's game against FSU). They read the field better. They are more consistent. Even Renner with UNC has been slightly better than LT in that regard. We have a 6-2 record in spite those LT issues. And I still believe we can and will beat Miami.
As an aside, remember when Tyrod had that comeback against Nebraska? Or even last week, Conner Shaw against MIzzou? Ever see LT do that in four years? No. He does well in spurts. But his inconsistency bites him.
Yeah but the "I got downvoted for that?" wasn't a complaint, it was a commentary on the direction the thread was heading.

Does Sam Rogers have a father?
