Wasn't Alabama under sanctions during the first five losses listed?
Coach Beamer and Blacksburg were meant for each other. Period.
I REALLY hope that the university, boosters, fan base do not Bobby Bowden him in the next few years.
I wrote this several years ago, and still stand by it.
There have been additional incidents at other schools since this, making it even more true to me.

The ultimate would be USCe vs USCw. I can't imagine what names could be made up for that one.
Nothing rhymes with orange.
Listen, we all wish we would win big games. We all want our football team to be better, we'll never content unless well have an 'Bama-level product on the field.
But let's just look at what Beamer has done since joining the ACC in 2004: 4 ACC Championships, 5 BCS Bowl Appearances, 8 10-win seasons & ending the year in top 25, Top 10 in # of players sent to NFL, 9 straight years of beating UVA...all while graduating 80% of players (the 20% includes those who left early to go to NFL) and running a clean program where we never have to worry about the stuff Miami goes through...I get your sentiment but I also empathize with Shane Beamer when he mentioned that our fan base is "spoiled".

I think Coach Beamer's detractors among the Hokie fan-base should give considerable thought to what the Tech football program will become after he's hung up the whistle. I've seen far too many programs take a major step back when a long-term coach is either fired, resigns, takes another head coaching job, or retires. It has been the rare exception rather than the rule that a program continues to perform at the same high level after the previous long-term coach departs.
We'll be entering some uncharted territory very soon when a new Tech president and AD take over. Who knows if, and/or how, the dynamic will change between those two and Coach Beamer. That dynamic will bear watching along with who the AD might want to hire as the next head coach from among the current coaches on the staff, or from outside the program. Will Coach Beamer have any input on who the next head coach will be?

I was listening to Colin on espn radio this morning. His take on this is that Austin is the location where rich people enjoy hanging out. He also pointed out other coaches that have homes in cities other then where they coach at..I tend to agree, buying homes in other places or even owning several homes is something wealthy people do..it's not a world many of us are accustom too.
Focus should always be on the win/loss record because that's all that matters.
I don't play fantasy football, maybe you all do. Winning and losing is the reality of this game. Statistics is the fantasy portion. Big difference between the two.
Spurrier era.
I just finished reading this in the Acc blog..I thought it was excellent praise for the Virginia Tech program that win the right way. I'd rather my team win without cutting corners then cheat and win a BCS title.

Probably right now that I look back at it.
Pretty sure all of us would like to see us win more big games; especially one that gets us that National Championship

MaroonEVERYTHING!!! Orange Shoelaces or gloves. That is enough to pull off the orange effect for me
it's like one big ass church choir
In the first picture, I was more surprised by the fact that Duke's stadium was actually filled up.
I think the old adage "To be the best you have to beat the best" is unfortunately just becoming lip service. Sure, people say it, but honestly I don't know many folks that would turn in their championship on the technicality that they didn't have to beat the other best team to get it. You think Bama will give back their crystal football last year just because they didn't have to play Oregon to get it?
The problem we are running into on a societal level is kids are being taught that "trying is everything", and then they hit the real world and find out that actually "winning is everything".
This leads to a lot of issues, not least of which is how "winning" trickles down to what job I have, what car do I drive, how big is my house, how much can I spend, which political "team" do I root for, etc. and goes way beyond sports. We need to figure out a way to balance the two so kids realize that putting forth your best effort in any and all endeavors is crucial...but also that sometimes you are just going to come up on the short end of things and that means its time to get back to work to get better.

I normally let it slide but given the context here I feel the need to correct it
