I'm actually more entertained with the storyline of the offense plus the dominant defense. It's really nice to see a group that doesn't have a Marcus Davis or Boykin type athlete, or a RMFW/David Wilson type trying to figure out what works for them as a unit in any particular game. I think it's building character, and it really shows the buy-in and trust in the system of these players.
I'm judging results (and therefore deriving my happiness with this team) by three goals:
1) Win the game
2a) make Logan look good and increase his stock
2b) bring the guys along in the system
Count me entertained
If VT were to win out and be 12-1 with a conference championship I am betting we'd at least be in the conversation. We have the best loss of the 1-loss teams in Alabama.

He just seems a little undersized to me for an NFL DT, similar to his brother. Like I said, I have no doubt the athleticism is there. I think the highest Antoine made it was as a practice squad member (want to say for the Bengals?), but now he's using his VT degree to do stuff with a computer business which is awesome.
EDIT: Hop was with the Steelers, not Bengals. Confused him with Bruce Taylor for a moment.
Clemson or FSU would have to be ranked first, and a lot of other teams need to lose, especially Ohio State. Teams like Alabama may have to lose twice.
Everybody would have a completely different view of this team if we hadn't given up those two special-teams touchdowns in the opener.
If the final was 21-10 Alabama, everyone would have been talking about what a defensive struggle the game was, decided with a pick-6 by Bama. They'd be praising Tech for playing SEC football and making them the favorites for the ACC Coastal.
Truth is, we ARE that team.

I think a lot of people (myself included) forget that it is not just about game times - it also about network selection and availability/selection of games. ESPN will put VT on a noon game destined for ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU rather than make it a regional game at 3:30 on the ACC Network/ESPN3. They want to fill their slots with the most viewers possible.
That being said.... Duke might be better than Pitt. They did play them close without Boone.

For real. I'm glad we're only ranked #19. Every time we get ranked high all I can think is "Well crap."
I am very excited with how this team has played. They have fought every week and the OL has been better than I expected honestly. The run game has been bad but I do attribute a lot of that to defenses stacking the box. The best thing that will improve our run game is LT continuing to not make mistakes in the passing game. He has played very smart the last few weeks. He is going through his reads and not throwing it hoping something good happens. If it isn't there he isn't forcing it.
If teams are going to stack the box, I would like to see us bring in more blockers and run some power football at them. It has worked when we brought in an extra linemen and run right at them. Give our guys confidence in pushing the defense around early in games. Come out under center and hand the ball off.

I think #MANBEARPIG because I can only imagine the psychological horror I would have to deal with from having to watch him come straight at me. At least with #WHOSEYOURDADI you never see him until he hits you.

Let's just rest up and then get ready for Duke. Tech doesn't play well when we think we are too good. We thrive on being doubted, disrespected, and underdogs.
I actually went to high school and middle school with Derrick (Skip) and his brother (Hop). As you could imagine, that's a pretty nasty combo at DT for a high school defensive line. Skip's always been crazy athletic, he played basketball on our high school team which won two 3A state titles in like a three year span around when he was there. If Skip had just a little more height to him, I'd have no doubt he could cut it in the NFL.
This. There is a reason that Bama is looking for it's third straight title. Their offense is designed to wear out smaller and quicker defenses that are designed to stop these "exciting" offenses. Also they have the horses on D to be able to combat those same offenses through talent and discipline. Bud's D is very similar to this. If we can get an O that can compliment that, good things will (and are) happen(ing).
