...and you think Street had ANY idea that THAT was coming? Most big hits are because the hitee doesn't know its coming.

Well, and again I am just spit balling based on how I have designed similar situations (in this case stands that cannot be anchored directly beneath), they have a steel reinforced, structural grade concrete wall at the top of the track. It should be fairly easy to structurally bolt and tether stands to the wall with weighted stop anchors on the downside of said stands so that anchor points do not need to be drilled into the track.

This is all speculation I know, but there are always design solutions to problems like this and the amount of money made on seats close to the field will far outweigh the amount of money on damages.

This Brunton dude doesn't strike me as someone who gives a damn about damaging the surface. He's hell bent on making this a spectacle. I want to know if you can buy passes to be on the infield. That would be awesome.

Also, halftime, Hokie vs. Smokey 10 lap race.

I don't think 40K tickets being sold will be a problem. If they allotted us 100K tickets I think we'd sell them all.

Dear Recruits still considering Virginia Tech. Please come be apart of the biggest college football game EVER.

haha... yes to both of you. Plus I thought with Britney's connection to VT she was relevant as well. Hell, she may even sing the national anthem at the game.

good point. And if you look at the rendering it shows zero fans sitting along either sideline. You think they are not going to sell 50 yard line seats for shitloads of money? No fucking way that happens. There will be stands on the track.

also the game is after the August race, so Bristol may even be due for a resurfacing before the season starts up again in the spring

That's a lot of real estate not filled in between field and stands. Plus there is no way they are hitting 180k without it. The dimensions don't add up. Anyway, they build stands that have high durability silicone skid guards on the runners to avoid damage. Easily done.

And that is why it's done that way.
In the future, the WR may be a little distracted because he's checking the corner of his eyes for a VT safety/maroon blur.

Gotta go with Ward. First, I saw it live and didn't even realize Davis scored at first because I was too busy trying to make sure the dude was alive. Second, it was against WVU.

And that right there is going to be how he makes the payoff at $4M per team.
40k sales to each school plus alcohol sales plus increased NASCAR season ticket sales due to people wanting good seating at the spectacle.
