By the way, its been shown on multiple levels (Super bowls wins by Tampa, Baltimore, NC wins by LSU, Alabama ) that Defensive Swag> offensive swag.
I'm sure this is the kind of football Beamer and Bud want to play (and I'm glad for it.)
Let Clemson have their gaudy offensive numbers during the season; they look pretty ordinary when they face a decent defense (3pts at half time to BC!?)

Personally I've never been that impressed with big hits on special teams. I feel like they're kind of cheap since the special teamer normally has no idea what's coming. At least wide receivers are expecting a safety to come flying in.

I'm also more impressed with Jarret's hit because literally every big hit nowadays is a penalty so it was awesome that he pulled one off without getting flagged. Here's another big hit by a VT alum that had me out of my seat.

I didn't really phrase that correctly. On special teams, a player is running with his body completely open so it's a bit easier to hit them because you can just aim right for his chest. On a normal play, the receiver is going to have any combination of his arms or helmet in the way so it's a little harder to hit them right where you want.

From Bitter:

The game will take place only two weeks after the 2016 NASCAR race. Over 400 workers will begin altering the racetrack to be ready in time for the football game.
The turf and field, which will be placed on the infield, will be completed in eight days. Approximately 8,500 tons of rock will be used to build the base of the field. The speedway had a mock football field painted over the asphalt Monday.
Bleachers will be brought in and placed on the track to allow some fans to be closer to the field. Video boards will be setup throughout the stadium to provide for easier viewing from far distances

We can't take this game lightly, even though we'll have a great party before kickoff.
But, the one that bothers me is the opponent after that.

I'm going to watch the replay this week but, Boston College looks like no joke, the play against FS and Clemson show that. They're playing good fundamentals and always play hard. It's on their turf.

Our guys need to get healthy and rest, concentrate of Duke for the next week and beat them.
Then BC will be a real contest.

In order to even have a chance of this happening we would have to run the table to include beating a highly ranked FSU or Clemson in the ACCCG. But, even though the odds are heavily stacked against us, it could happen. I remember the 1999 run where teams above us in the standings began to fall by the wayside each week until they had to say we were in the Big Game.

Wins are exciting, no matter what. If a win gets boring, that means you're growing complacent. You expect to win, so you look for more. Look what happened last year, our team expected to win, and they didn't.

The more the fans enjoy every win, the more the players will. Enjoy every win, don't get complacent!

Debatable, but I guess it depends on if Wang is on Offense or Defense...But since Wang is on Offense, going hard allows the QB to give it to the Tight End quicker and more efficiently...

The trouble with this "more exciting" version of football is that it discounts most of the team. Defense and special teams are ignored, and in some systems so is the offensive line. All the emphasis is put on the quick skill position players and tiring out the other team. While this is exciting for some, a defense that can match (or exceed) the offense in talent can shut them down.
On the other hand, if you are a mid-level program that consistently misses out on recruits to bigger-named schools (Marshall and ECU come to mind) this new style of offense provides the best way to compete with bigger schools by putting the emphasis on offensive skill positions with speed.

My opinion would be she without argument is the greatest pitcher the women's team has ever had and possibly one of the 2 or 3 best in the women's college game ever but to say she is the best VT athlete of all time might be a stretch.

I can't believe that the complaining about airplanes continues.

When I was at games back in the day, I was hit with empty cups, pizza box tops, ice, airplane bottles, and more. If you sat in the student section, it was almost expected to have to dodge something during the game. Cause guess what, it was the student section. Students tend to do stupid shit. I remember bringing my parents to the UVA game one year and thinking to myself that they may be coated in soda before the end of the game. A paper airplane would be the least of my worries.

And the wave? Seriously, there are complaints about doing the wave? That was something else that happened all the time when I was in school. In fact, I helped start a wave that went like 20 rounds during one of the Miami games. The wave is in fact a sign of cheering your team on. Yes, timing is everything (ie, don't do it during a play), but its a universally accepted cheer at just about all sports.

Everyone is different. We all experience the game in different ways. Some of you hate the airplanes and waves, but guess what, some of us hate drunk people at the game (I don't know why anyone would want to sully the game day experience by standing there in a haze the whole time). People say that you should be there to watch the game and not throw an airplane. OK, I get that, but if you are drunk off whiskey, do you even remember the game?

Anyway, people enjoy games differently. We should have more forum posts about game play and recruiting and drop these constant complaints about the fans. Like it or not, we are all Hokies dammit.

That's gotta go at the top of the list just due to the uniform that guy was wearing.

Great.....now I'm dreaming:
NASCAR announces a 2 o'clock sprint race for game ticket holders.
Britney singing the National Anthem, followed by Metallica introducing the Hokies live and in person.
And a halftime show with the Who and all of the NFL cheerleaders.

(shivers....)

Honorable mention: Macho versus Jacoby Ford (i think), @ Clemson. On the swing pass, he decleated Jacoby. I am at work and Youtube is blocked, but I know TKP can find the youtube of that hit.

the amount of money made on seats close to the field will far outweigh the amount of money on damages.

This. Never underestimate someone with money trying to outdo everyone. See also Jones, Jerry.

I have no doubt they will squeeze every seat they can possible squeeze into this place. If he's smart he will serve turkey legs at the concession too!
