I like to imagine Miami beating FSU and ranked close to 5 - a prime piece of meat. Us heading into the game at 8-1 and knocking them off. Also, I am eating hot wings.
Dear Top 25,
It's been a while since we've written, and I have to admit, it's hard to know what to say. We've been watching you from afar, hanging around with 25 other teams for so long. We miss you. We miss us.
We know you still have feelings for 23 other teams, and we know it will take time for us to earn back your trust. We messed around for a long time, and last year you kicked us out. We can't blame you. After you started last season so high on us, we made it worth your while with a season-opening win over the Bees. But then came Pitt. And Cincy. And UNC. Clemson, Miami, Florida State... do I really have to go back through all of this?
But it's different this time. This time, it's all about us, and we won't betray your trust again.
We know you didn't think highly of us last year after we ran around with those six other teams, and we understand that it will take time. All we're asking for is the chance. We have Pitt again this weekend, and we want to show you, AP Top 25 Poll, sweetheart, that we're worthy of you. After Pitt we have Duke and Boston College, so we're willing to travel to the ends of the East Coast to prove our commitment to you.
Don't take my word for it. Words are cheap. Just wait and see what we do. Then, if you think it feels right, let us in a little more. If you don't believe us now, maybe you'll believe in us come November 9th.
Just give us this chance.
Love,
Hokies
A) It was probably a fat finger, and there's still no way to correct those
B) Can people stop whining about downvotes? Seriously? Please?
Yes! Agreed fully, especially with your point about the potential for Miami to have a hangover. I just posted almost exactly the same thing like two minutes ago on another thread.
YES! I totally didn't realize that they played FSU the week before us. It's hard to get up for two big, emotional games in a row and I can see Miami putting all their eggs into the FSU basket. If they win that game they might show up flat against us.
I dream of being 8-1 heading into the Miami game, with all of the announcers still droning on and on about the U being back after their huge win over FSU.
Having some of the most consistent hands on the offense and a willingness to work the middle has made Byrn my favorite receiver this year.
I wish they made it that you're out of this game and you can't play next game, no matter when you were ejected. I'll allow your team to replace you so they aren't playing down a man the rest of the game. (Soccer fan, what can I say)
I love this.
I think Byrn just took Meyer's role in the offense and ran with it. Has made the most of that opportunity as a possession, underneath route kind of guy.
Pitt will be a struggle because it always is. Maryland looked dangerous 63 points ago, but now I don't know what to make of them.
BC and Duke should be victories.
Miami is going to be a tough out.
LOLUVA.
I'm going with somewhere between 5-1 with a loss to Miami and 3-3 if we drop the ball against MD and Pitt. I could see us, realistically, anywhere between 11 wins (if we were to go 6-0, a stretch I think at this point) and 8-4 if the offense hits a wall and defense suffers any significant injuries.
how about the simple fact that they are throwing it in the red zone. never thought i'd see the day.
At 5-1 with the only loss being against the best team in the nation it's hard not to be excited about the team. The defense has played lights out and over the last 2 games LT has carried the offense. There is of course the problem with the running game but it might be something in which Grimes needs to have more time with current OL or possibly a personnel issue that will be fixed through movement on the depth chart or recruiting.
At this point VT is a favorite against every team on the schedule besides Miami. Miami does have a huge game against FSU week before they play VT, I could see the FSU game having lingering effects on da U. If everything fell the way people project right now VT could end the year 10-2 in regular season with a chance to play in the Chick-fil A or Russell Athletic Bowl (please no Sun Bowl!!). Of course there's still a whole half of the schedule and can't assume any wins but the team tends to be trending up. Pitt does worry me of course #becausePitt but I feel good about a revenge win before bye week. Hopefully VT has a 3:30pm game against a Duke team coming off a win against uva, right now the Duke vs uva game is at 3:30pm so there is a chance.
I really like the trajectory of the program as a whole right now. VT has played a lot of underclassmen and I like the recruiting class coming in so far. There are a lot of high level recruits left on VT's board for defense this year and 2015 is looking like another good year in the state with less competition coming from a floundering uva program. Think the new coaches coming in have done a good job from what I've seen. I hope that Bud Foster never leaves VT as well!!
This team has shown that it can finish the reg season 11-1. I worry about the consistency however. The offense has improved, but in the past two games they seem to somewhat disappear in the second half. Can't have that kind of inconsistency if we want to have an outstanding season going forward. But if that gets fixed, I see no reason why we shouldn't finish 11-1
Surprised - 1. The outstanding play of the really young Secondary 2. actual progression and growth of Logan in his Senior year 3. how much better the ACC has looked nationally
Disappointed - How bad our running game is
Outlook - Just excited to be in the mix, bring it on!
Griffer and Mama Giraffe went a perfect 6-0.
No one was awful this week, so you will not be shamed.
Overall: dwalt88 and vtnerf at 69% with Griffer and InEnemyTerritory at 67% are kicking a lot of ass.
Please check my accuracy.

I am really enjoying the ride; First season I have had in a while with no expectations.
Great Breakdown, once again. Thanks.
There are 2 things that seem to be currently missing from this offense that would bring it to an elite level:
1. Consistent O-line
2. Game-changing playmaker on the perimeter
If VT can improve those two facets via recruiting, then this offense will be humming in a few years.
Don't forget, this team has been lucky as well as good.
The record could be 3-3 if the ball had been bouncing against us. 5-1 is the best any Hokies could have hoped for with all the injuries, freshmen, and new offensive coaches. What's been nice to see is the defense has been playing lights out right from the start, and the offense isn't shooting itself in the foot this year. Loeffler has got Logan comfortable in his ball control offense, and the play calling has been efficient enough to win games.
With no running game (outside of our QB) and a terrible kicking game, this team is about where I expected them to be. The 5-1 record has been a pleasant surprise.
Play on playa
I really think there is a chance that they might not win another game. Not one. It certainly is a possibility. Oh how glorious that would be, along with a decommit or two.
"Mulitple offense" makes me cringe as much as the phrase "passes defensed".
Is he related to Sam Rogers?

Sam Rogers uses everything. Period.
While on a sex-spree in a Tijuana whorehouse, Sam Rogers used a live cougar as a condom.
The bodycount was fourteen Mexican whores and one cougar.
In Tijuana, they refer to this as "The Night of the Sodomizing Cougar-Man."
Sam Rogers refers to it as "last Thursday."
(Whole joke stolen from Ace of Spades HQ's classic "Best of Cool Facts About Dick Cheney".)
