Exum will probably be 100% healthy, but it will take time for him to trust his knee again. I think it'll be all mental for him, but I'd think it will take more than a few games for him to be back to his old self again. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.
I'm thinking about trying to get a ticket in there next season, as I'll be a grad school last year guy. If it happens, I'll wear an orange shirt underneath and when the game starts, I'll rip off the white and stay orange all game.
If you see a guy wearing an orange shirt in the S one night, that's me.
I thought Kendall was All-State WR back in high school as well as one of the best DB prospects in the country. I would have thought he would have been the first to move to WR, and honestly I think Facyson (whose name I've learned to spell correctly faster than I thought) is a stud at DB.
Having said that, I'm sure the coaches have a better idea of who should stay at D than I do. The only thing that bothers me about this is that we've moved guys around the secondary before. Kam, Exum, and now Facyson, and none of them went back to their original position (Facyson pending). Kam is now playing a position in the NFL where he started at VT, but eventually moved out of because of need, Exum started at safety and has moved to corner out of need (and assuming he goes to the NFL, who knows where he'll end up) and now Facyson is moving out of his corner position. Granted, it's to get him on the field, and he's an extremely talented player, but is it wrong for me to want to see him stick at one position, play it for three or four years, and excel at it?
I'm worried just because I don't know what Exum will look like when he returns. Will he be running day care again or will he be a shadow of his former self? I'm worried, but...in Bud we trust. In Torrian we trust. I guess I'll have to take it on faith, as these guys have more than proven they know what they're doing, regardless of whether I understand it or not. I guess I just hope that Exum isn't being given his position back simply because he's put his time in, and that he's being given his position back because he's on top of his game and has re-earned it.
I see both sides of this debate. Facyson stays on Defense, they remain deep and Elite. (I personally feel it'll be weeks before Exum is as productive as Facyson.) I can see where that unit needs any help, but they are getting better, or at least I feel that way. I dunno, I'd like them too keep it the way it is, but Logan having another potentially solid target would be sweet.
Awesome. Add some distraction down in Chapel Hill.
I laugh out loud at the school that questioned VT's academics prior to us joining the ACC.
I do the same. He really puts some thought in these.
Can we start calling him 2-Face-On? As in Batman?
I agree. A lot of people complain about not having enough time to study. There are plenty of weekends when I stay in, turn on some college football game in the background and get some work done. It's a small price to pay for a much lighter work load during the week.
I understand Kiffin is a joke, but I really don't hope they feel like he's their only problem. Starting with they aren't that great.
God I hope they don't take Facyson out of the starting D. Exum is not as good at corner as he is at Safety. He really struggled last year. They need to ease Exum into the games, because a Microfracture surgery is no laughing business and most players are a shell of their former self when they return.
Agree with most here. If its just Facyson getting some reps fr some certain packages on O and still mainly playing D and rotating with Exun as needed then great. If its Exum to CB full time not happy. But I can't see the coaches being that niave to put a guy who has missed the whole offseason back into the lineup full go his first full week of practice back when the guy he is replacing is playing lights out and leads the nation in INT's. that doesn't make any sense. I have to default to my trust in the coaches that they know more than I do in this area and are going with the former and not the latter.
Either way you look at it, Brandon will be starting CB next yr without a doubt.
This is fun to discuss on the various available forums...but I believe this will work itself out.
Exum is not going to be ready to play at D-1 level. They'll give him the shot, and BY ALL MEANS, it's worth a shot...but he won't be able to go on that knee.
I'll believe it when I see it.
I know that we don't just happen to somehow stumble into having one of the best defenses in the country year in and year out. I trust in the coaching staff's ability to put our best players on the field.
Sounds like it's more towards agents than anybody at UNC, though.
I like it! I trust Tone to lock down the Field Side, plus we are in desperate need of playmakers on offense if we are going to contend for a Coastal crown. Way to go Beamer on getting outside the box!
I was just about to post this - tons of successful DBs see both sides (well, not tons, but some). If it helps us get more talent on the field, sure. And, I mean, it's not like this will ruin him in the event someone gets injured back there. I'd think of him as "Starting Corner B" who dabbles in recieving. Splitting time with Exum would allow him to be fresh enough to play both sides too.

Exum was awesome last year. No one covered Sammy Watkins better than him last year. It was bad that he injured himself, but you cant treat a person like that. Not saying get his spot just because, but that he deserve an opportunity. It is not like Exum is a liability. Even if: Exum<=Facyson but Facyson>>>Knowles, Myer, Byrn, or Stanford, then Team w/Exum at CB> Team w/Exum on bench.
Logan said Rogers has the best hands on the team. I can see where the coaches are coming from.
Dudes, Anyone remember how worried and disappointed we were when we found out Exum couldn't play against Bama. How much we liked his humer during the summer. What an awesome thing he did at last years bowl game. Are Hokies really that forgetful. I for one am still an @IamSwag1 fan. I am glad he's finally cleared and can't wait to see him on the field.
I'm a new NYC transplant moving like a nomad around Uptown and Queens. I would totally enjoy this because I actually like to hear myself think in bars and I rarely have cable (see: nomad). I'm unfortunately too poor to drink that often, but gamedays at a hokie bar sounds fantastic.
Get your 2-way Facyson!
I wouldn't be shocked if the NCAA closes the case on them after a verdict is found on this. Given how slow they've gone, that seems about right. There's no way they get away with only a postseason ban.

The kid certainly has the ability to make an impact at receiver, but he is a true freshman. He is balancing being a first year student, learning all the complexities of Bud Foster's weekly adjustments, and the nuance of each individual receiver he will be covering.
Now, you add route running, alignments, blocking assignment, and catching the ball. And, you have four wide receivers and a tight end who are all contributing and a fifth receiver that we spent all off season hearing how great he was waiting in the wings if someone isn't healthy.
I hated it when Macho tried it. I hate it more now.
