And #1 punt returner and KO returner too.....Wait....we won't need a KO returner anymore....well, once a game.
Seriously. We get it, HD/matron giraffe/Neck isn't good and it doesn't need to be all over the tracker. Bitter clearly does a better job so why don't we discuss his articles instead of beating a dead giraffe and bashing on HD every other post.
Thank you for sharing these, freaking hysterical.
If you want to blame Weaver for anything - blame him for lack of Thursday night game this year. Blame him for the 1:30 default start for non-televised games. This accounts for a total of two games this year.
And give him some credit for setting up a match-up with Alabama.
He's not a powerless pawn of the networks
Yes he is.
We are part of the ACC. The ACC negotiated a TV contract with ESPN/ABC. Most likely they offered the most money out of all the networks. This is the only major network deal we have. (Unlike the SEC that has ESPN and CBS. The Big 12 and PAC 12 also have access to ESPN and Fox Sports).
The lack of prime-time Saturday night exposure is not just a VT problem, it is an ACC problem.
Other than the opening Saturday of the season (VT-Alabama, Clemson-Georgia - technically SEC games in ESPNs eyes) there hasn't been a single ACC team showcased on the ESPN/ABC network after 330 on a Saturday all season.
There wont be one this week and there wont be one next week.
Over these two weeks, there will a total of 12 games involving the other East coast conferences (SEC and Big 10) after 330 on ESPN/ABC. Gee, i wonder how ESPN feels about the ACC?
This weekends #25 Maryland @ #8 FSU game will kick off at NOON.
#10 LSU @ Miss State will be at 7PM #eSECpn
ESPN makes the weekly schedule. Once conference play starts, the espn family of networks televises almost all of the ACC games.
ESPN wants to dominate ratings all hours of the day Saturday - not just prime time.
Right now, ESPN feels that using ranked ACC teams as an appetizer for ranked SEC and Big Ten games at night is the best formula.
It sucks, but that's the way it is.
Read this to see who's making the real scheduling decisions. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/25/sports/ncaafootball/college-footballs-...
This is an ACC and ESPN issue. Its been that way for the last few years and it may continue to be that way in the future.
Can we just stop posting articles related to the ESPN ACC blog? We all know it exists and where to find it. If there is something to discuss about it, there is a specific commenting section on ESPN for it...
There's one of three reasons Logan didn't hand off on the inverted veer read last game; 1) He was told not to by a coach, 2) he made the wrong read or 3) he didn't care if it was open, he wanted the ball.
I've seen too many reads this year where Logan and the back fight over the ball, and I think Logan has been a bit selfish with the "read". I am a Logan fan, but he should be handing it off a bit more on the read, assuming it is his decision. We need him to make it through the entire season (and bowl game :) ) to get the most out of this offense.
Edit: 4 wins. Turkey leg, sir
Adjustments.
Key word. I really like loeffler because of the adjustments he is able to make to create mismatches. He's doing enough with an inherited offensive skill set to get us 4 wins so far. It's a great compliment to our Defense. And each week we're getting better!
But... I thought Da U was back?
Edit: The following is fan fiction and not a dig at BraggHokie's spelling of Ndadi. Here's a turkey leg to get you to 30. On a serious note, does anyone actually have an update on Nnadi? Would really love to get him and Walker then have this DT thing Settled for the next few years.
The year was 2016. Nnadi and Dadi Hi-Low the tOSU QB, ending his life. On the ensuing chest bump a spawn was created. Secreted away by coach Wiles and nurtured to become a one-man D-line, "Ndadi" was sent back in time to watch over and protect a young CJ Reavis, his mere presence causing opposing QBs to float balls Reavis' way.
True story.
Loeffler!!!!!!!!

DANNY COALE CAUGHT THE BALL
GahTech had Megatron, but we have Optimus Prime, and OP always wins.
He couldn't be more on point. It was evident when they stuck together through 3 overtimes in the nasty weather with a half filled Lane Stadium. That took some serious mental toughness. I can honestly say I haven't been that proud of a Virginia Tech football team when they pulled that out. Made that rain feel a lot warmer.
And, this works against any zone look. The big challenge to the Hokies will be when they play teams that use nickel corners playing man on those crossing routes. Fortunately GT didn't have the corners and were forced to play zone or man under with linebackers, and those linebackers were completely outmatched.
Lest we forget, we recruited him and put him at WR and then RB.
He played QB in high school. He's probably not used to the blocking side yet. But he will learn.
I think "soiling" works well here.
Oh, those dirty dirty oats...
I personally think Exum deserves to play, he has put in the time and has proven himself. My one concern is the chemistry occurring among the current starters. When everything is working right changing a small component can throw the timing of everything off. Exum may be as good as, or better, than the current players but their ability to work together and trust each other is important. We saw it with Logan and the receivers and in my mind it is just as important on the defensive side of the ball. Having said all that I trust Foster and Beamer to make the correct decisions that will not adversely impact the team.
Kendrick Lamar plays ball? Man, he can do it all...

If we aren't ranked after this weekend we will be the following weekend if we keep winning. There aren't many games this week where 20-25 are likely to lose but the following week there will be.
If he was a junior I'd advocate that he move to Whip.
Facyson is too much of a talent to be placed on the bench. The way he broke on that ball in the Georgia Tech game was nothing short of super hero-like.
I went to Yahoo a lot before, but now it seems a lot of their stuff on specific teams are behind paywalls. I liked their previews and post game grades but now I hardly see those up there and get better quality stuff on here. I agree on avoiding Forde and their stat site being one of the best.
I think everyone is getting too worked up over this....
Realistically, Exum will probably not play too much this year. I would guess that he starts off spelling Facyson ~25% of the time. Why?
1. Facyson has been outstanding. There is no reason to sit him on the bench, wasting a year of his ballhawking elgibility.
2. This is a contract year for Exum. There is no reason for him to aggrevate his knee. Let him slowly get snaps and build confidence, strength, and speed in his leg. Let him get his physicallity back. Give scouts just enough of a look at him to ensure his technique is sound, because we all know they will salivate over his physicality and he will impress at the combine. Yes, he may "start", but I don't see him playing 60 minutes.
The only reason that Maryland/UVA is the 3:30 is because of the bigger TV market!

I think this is Two Faced if you ask me, Fluff us up a little bit, make the team get cocky, and then they lose. she wants us to lose! She hates us, and we hate her!!!
