not what you were looking for but still pretty funny
Listening to the ladies on here talk about how their dad introduced them to football is really heart warming and touching because of the relationship I have with my daughter. She is 2 years old and is sitting on the ottoman in front of the TV watching College Gameday as I type this. She has on her Hokies jersey and thinks it is Gameday even though she just watched the game with me Thursday. She just knows Saturday is our day to lay around and watch the Hokies and the rest of the best games that day. I don't have the heart to tell her we aren't playing again until next week. Despite all of that today will still be my favorite day of the week my daughter and football can never disappoint.
I would say Oklahoma State, but they might not be relevant for much longer.
My dad went to VT for one year in the 80's for his masters. He never really had any connection to any individual school since after graduate school, med school and residency he had been a student at 4. I became a Hokie fan on my own when I was about 7 (Michael Vick years), and ever since then I've been as into Virginia Tech as someone can be. I remember when I was applying to college my mom wanted to force me to go to UMD (40 minutes from my house) and my dad, sister and brother all spent 2 months convincing her that I HAD to go to VT. They kept telling her that she should have accepted I was gonna go to Tech when I was in middle school. I applied early decision and when I got accepted I literally screamed, one of the best days I've ever had.
I had a great conversation a couple months ago with some family friends about what I'm gonna do after college. It went something like this.
Her: "Where do you want to work when you graduate? Do you want to stay in Maryland?"
Me: "No, I wanna live in Virginia."
Her: "But what about when you have kids? Maryland has a great public school system."
Me: "I don't care about that. When my kids graduate high school they are going to Virginia Tech, I wanna save money on tuition."
What bugs me about that article is they start off by saying it was a win that "few people saw coming." That's crap, anyone who knows college football knows that game was a coin flip and that Foster always has an answer to that god forsaken offense. Bleacher Report, you're so worthless
This has got to be the most efficient and logical sequence for said events! Bravo equine sir!
I'm surprised they aren't free.
On the note of UVA tickets, a couple of my friends from home (one PSU student and one VT student) wanna go to the UVA game this year. Our friend that goes to UVA doesn't want to go, where should I go to find cheap tickets in the VT section? Or I guess that would just be half the stadium.
Just hope the Hokies keep their eyes on the prize and stay hungry. Need to remember they beat Georgia Tech last year also.
Already did it against ECU. Logged a few thousand votes, then it appeared that they were all removed. Watir is a beautiful thing, isn't it?
Fair enough.
Nice planning disguised as romance.
Agreed. Another article on the same site (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1787926-virginia-tech-vs-georgia-tech...) comments that Loeffler has not impressed so far and referenced his play-calling as a 'repeat of 2012'. Complete contradiction of the other article.
I dont see the point in anyone ever reading or caring about bleacher report or what they say. It is literally a bunch of random people writing articles about stuff they likely know little if anything about.
I know that WVU sells beer in its stadium. Their AD based the decision on looking at other schools that were doing it and making money. The reported no increase in behavior or arrests and actually said they had fewer issues because people weren't trying to constantly sneak booze into the game.
Interesting thought.
That would be better than Michigan St. I love playing against west coast teams.
Every time I see something like this from Bleacher Report or ESPN I cant help but have the line stuck in my head from Eddie Murphy Raw "What have you done for me lately?". Soon enough $EcSPN will be all over our nuts again if we can keep up the level of play and keep winning.
wait a minute... you are a Civil Engineering major and... a girl?! Wow, you must have had the pick of the litter for group assignments. What's the boy to girl ratio in Civ, 500:1?
I'm surprised Arch didn't let you in but you could go Civil. You need to be a lot smarter for engineering than Arch. I know because I am an architect.
GiT
I am talking PST time here but the game kicks off at 4:30. I will look at my phone around 5:30 and it will be mid-way through the 4th quarter. Also, 3rd and 5 when GiT has the ball is like an automatic 1st down, I hope the D proves me wrong. #RevengeNesbitt
Other picks on Friday
Hokies win!!!!! F-CPJ, F #RevengeNesbitt I am very happy to take the loss and I will happily keep picking against the Hokies if we continue to win. On to the rest of the pics.
LSU
Apparently LSU has a passing game. Georgia, with their backs against the wall, beat USC. Now their backs are not as pressed back to wall so Richt will lose control and Georgia will lose the game. Fear the hat.
Notre Dame
Two bad offenses. Two decent defenses. Me watching this game probably garners the same reaction as a non-Hokie fan watching VT play: MEH!
Bama
As much as I like the think Ole Miss can cover, the cheerleader pic is my pick. Can buck tradition, even if it means my picks suck.
uDub
Why is the uDub crowd quiet compared to the Seahawk crowd? West Coast baby! Seattle sucks for college football. Fans of schools out east pack the bars more than the Pac 12 and Mountain West or whatever that is. Sad b/c uDub seems good this year with a surprisingly good defense. They should be able to cover.
tOSU
As much as I want tOSU to lose & the B1G to suck I don't see Wisconsin winning a night game at the Horseshoe. Although the saying goes when you have two quaterbacks you really have none. But VT bucked that trend with Glennon/Tryod a few years ago.
These picks were brought you by a bottle of red wine but I did have some Rogers last night.
Go Hokies!
Wiscy at tOSU -7.5
My story is quote simple, I never became a Hokie, I was born one. It's in our blood in my family. I was born in Montgomery regional hospital and grew up in plum creek, in between Radfprd and christiansburg. My first I watched them since I was little kid, my first game was the loss against UVA in 1998, back when you could get into land stadium for free. I consider myself old fashioned Hokie fan. I miss the old downtown Blacksburg, the orange and blue Hardee's on the corner as you come down Main Street there on the right. I miss the old Hokie House back when it was locals place to hang out and get good grub. I have watched us evolve from small time to big time and its been a fun roller coaster so far. Many of you know I am in the military and I proudly rep my Hokies no matter what country I am in!
i just love the fact that this site is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than any other site....ever
For the last THREE games, including this one, Marshawn has rushed for -
200 yds + 4 TDs
239 yds +3 TDs
308 yds + 8 TDs (no typo!)
--------------
747 yds + 15 TDs
For an average high school RB, that's a season's worth of work - Marshawn is VERY far above average!
We went to the BAMA game, and we will also go to the UVA game this year. If we're in the ACCCG and a Bowl Game, we'll go to those as well. That's typically all they'll budget for us to travel to. That said, last night was a Thursday night game on the road, and given our band's typical travel schedule, we likely would have missed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday classes for it. I would have totally been down, but whoever is in charge of these things obviously isn't. We don't go to all the neutral site games either. For instance, we did not go to Fed-Ex last year. We did go to Clemson however, which was farther than Greenville. I think generally, given the budget, they try to send the band to rivalry/marquee matchup games. Due to this, it is unlikely that you'll see us traveling to ECU in coming years (though not impossible, depending on who else our away schedule includes). Hope this helps.
that would actually be pretty easy to do, just have coupons and don't start handing them out until after the game ends. Advance Auto did something like that for some of LU's Basketball games with windshield washer fluid.
And I just fat fingered it too
My parents met while they were at Tech in the 70's. I also have an uncle who graduated and my three aunts went to Radford when it was an all girls school. Tailgates are always a bit of a family reunion. I started going to games in 1990 at the ripe age of four and have been going ever since. Tech was the only place I applied since it was the only place I ever wanted to go. I had an amazing four years before graduating in 2008 with a degree in civil engineering. Now I get to build stuff you can play on when you are done which keeps life in between football games fun.

She just made Sam Rogers mad. Her life is now in his hands.
