He did look like all he wanted to do on that first one was to get it out of there as fast as he could. Can't blame the guy, but just cannot afford to give a line drive to an explosive athlete. But then, hindsight is awesome. :-)

I should have been clearer. WRs experienced in their HS career as primary or secondary targets. I believe Knowles was a late entrant in HS football (Actual quote from Brian Stinespring: "He was so far away conceptually from the game ... We just knew he could run"). And I think he is a very good return guy - so point is not to say he is not good. Rather, hoping that we can coach him into our #1 receiver might be a stretch.

Every Bama dude was in a button up shirt or polo with nice pants and every girl was in a dress. I found it extremely weird, being from Pittsburgh and Blacksburg where a jersey/tshirt and shorts or jeans is the only way to go to a sporting event for either gender.

There was a Bama fan behind me in the student section. Pretty cool dude, wasn't obnoxious at all (that may have been due to the fact he was in the only place in the stadium where he was COMPLETELY surrounded by Tech fans and he was with friends from Tech). But I remember late in the game he asked why we were still standing and somebody just told him how we (well, the good fans at least) only sit at halftime. He just said, completely serious, "Wow, we sit for the whole game." Thought that was pretty funny.

You're right, but that didn't have the feel of a true read option if I can call it that. That was a hand off all the way. I'm talking about the slow developing plays were LT takes to long to make a decision. i.e. the play where Edmonds got spun around when Logan took to long to pull it out... cue lame jokes...

I went through 3 VT t-shirts due to the warmth on Saturday.

I don't imagine it will for a while. Though at least for my part I'm just guessing, I've been gone for a little while as well.

For the record there were 11 counted drops last night. If those are caught, Logan's star line is 16 for 26 against ALABAMA. I believe that's pretty good.

Sounds like Dave's good ol choice in music hasnt changed a bit

I don't want us to have a Heisman contender. It isn't given to the best football player, but who will earn espn the most money. It represents all that is wrong with college football. Hokies are a team, not a player.

And Radar Love. And Mony Mony. And Twilight Zone. And all the 80s songs ever.

Kyle Fuller agrees. From David Teel's blog:

* Kyle Fuller said hes game for joining the punt and kick coverage teams that allowed a touchdown each Saturday, both to Jones.

Thats something we have to fix, he said. We cant give up things like that in games like this. After the first one I just wanted to volunteer and go out there. Im pretty sure well talk about it. I wouldnt mind doing it.

Err... Knowles was a WR in high school actually. The recruiting at WR has been subpar, no disagreement on that, but fixing that doesn't help out for the current season. We did land a verbal commitment from Cameron Phillips, a highly touted pure WR out of MD, so there's hope. We certainly have weaknesses on current team, especially our depth at WR and OL, but the new coaching staff seems to be doing everything they can to remedy that through recruiting.

I always like to point out how many of those national championships they didn't actually win. Bammers don't like that too much.

There is evey reason to be optimistic about this game and no reason to panic. In fact, I think some of the things I see above are borderline hysteria

With ESPN, no one is relevant unless you are a national title contender (because we can predict that on week 1) or a Heisman contender (which is really just them talking out of their rears for the whole season).

The problem is...for as excited as people on here are about a 25 point loss, the Hokies are currently completely irrelevant and there is no reason for ESPN to give us credit

This is true. AJ is a great punter. Most likely due to jitters, his 1st punt of the year was not good. His second wasn't that good either, as he put it in the endzone. 'Bama's punter also outkicked the coverage once, and VT got a great return (the Fuller/Fuller return/block combo).

Regarding 2014 in Columbus.
Offensively, VT will return 9 starters. VT will lose LT and Miller. Defensively, VT will return 5 starters (lose 7 including Exum). So, maybe they'll struggle next year on D... We'll see what happens when they lose 5 of the front 7.
