Thanks for the update! I'm always looking for Hokies when I'm watching on Sundays.
Knowles and Coles need to be benched. At this point the corps needs to know that every spot is up for grabs. I want to see Caleb and Stanford step up and push for starting roles. Meyers too - his effort is what we are looking for and it should be recognized and rewarded. Especially after this last game.
I may repeat some things already said, but figured I'd just make one post instead of a scattered 10. Someone above said Logan looked awful. I wouldn't say awful but I could understand just watching AT the game. I blamed him a little too, but when I got home and watched the game again on TV, he actually deserves little to no blame. The Wide Receivers were the cause and get a huge F. I counted 9 drops, one or two being tough catches, but have to bring it in when you get two hands on it. Logan put it where they could make a play and they failed time after time. My only criticism of Logan would be that he looked at times like he was playing not to lose instead of to win (scared to throw a pic and mess up his under 5), but I still can't blame him for that since the WR's give him no reason for him to trust them.
Everyone summed it up pretty well about the D and Trey Edmunds. Both could take us a long way this year. I know some are saying we need to watch the hype, but I think we feel so excited because we all know we have a very manageable schedule from here out. If our D plays phenomenal like that, Edmunds and the O-line stay solid, SPT gets fixed, and the fact that our WR's can't be any worse after that performance, then I think we have a chance of winning out (once again, based on our schedule). I know we always seem to lose one we shouldn't but I'd be shocked if we lost more than one or two games the rest of the way.
Im quite co concerned about QB after LT. Even as poorly as LT played this weekend (at least the perception of poor play), I don't see anyone else in he system (or committed) that I'm excited about seeing play.
There has been this progression from Vick to Randall to Tyrod to LT with a few lulls along the way but always the promise on the horizon. I'm concerned about the next "era."
FYI, Trey Edmunds spinning CJ Mosely onto the ground happens at 16:58 - 17:05
We don't have time to waste, bud should put the best 11 on the field period.we need to figure this out and the wide receivers and especially knowles needs to get it together before Marshall because they will be no push over having led the NCAA in passing last year.
Can we get the source?
Isnt Ekanem an end? Did you mean depth at end?
Easy: 12 defenders!
That was excellent real-time (or psuedo real-time, I guess. It was after the commercial break) analysis.
But I just don't think that the second he gets back he's going to be the same corner. That's going to take some time, and considering he's going to be coming back midway through the season I don't know that he's guaranteed a spot back. Especially not if Kendall is playing this well. But I agree, this is a great problem to have. Especially if we play a team like Clemson in the ACC title game. We'll have the corners to match-up against their receivers.

Thank you! Yes our receivers were god awful Saturday, but Demitri and DJ have both proven themselves enough in my book to start (Demitri did more last year than the GT catch believe it or not, and DJ is still DJ). I may be irrationally optimistic, but I bet Moorehead fixes this issue quick. You know is fired up, and this week will be hell for those two. I also hope that these were just individual bad games that won't continue all season (Demitri had more drops last night than he did all last season, and this was DJ's first game in a year). Like it or not, we don't have the depth at receiver to give up on either of these guys.
Exum was our best corner by the end of last year. I don't think he'd be getting in just because he's a senior - he's earned it. Provided he comes back 100%, obviously. That's the nice thing about the current situation - we can make sure he's all better, and there's no need to rush him back and risk an NFL career.
it's true, all you hear 12 months a year from the mothership is heisman, heisman, heisman. i honestly dont think most fans give that much of a shit. dont get me wrong i'd love for someone to bring it home to bburg but when i'm sitting around with my friends tailgating i've never heard anyone say, "so who do yall think will win the heisman?"
wasnt it actually fowler anyway?
Or South Florida. Yeesh.
Seem to remember Beamer promising him some work at WR when he committed.
Much appreciated. Great read.
Very well indeed. Because this play worked, the same set will result in a big gain later on the field side options. The field side OLB and safety may react to the first option allowing LT3 or the hback to run or maybe a hitch and go to the inside WR. I can't wait for french to analyse.
Coles and Knowles played much more poorly than they have before. In a weird way, that makes me feel better. Just a bad game by our two best receivers.
It is worth noting that both of these players have been complementary pieces before. They need to ready themselves for starter reps and personnel assignments.
I don't think it's obvious that Exum starts. You don't put a guy back in the starting lineup just because he's a senior, you play the lineup that gives you the best opportunity to win. Exum will still get a lot of work in the game, but if Kendall gets better (like most of us expect) by the time Exum is back then I don't see how we could take him out of the lineup.

And it will make me happy for another 3 years at least.
