The more I read on Wyatt, the more I am reminded of Chris Drager and Macho Harris. Drager has been move around more times than a spare tire and never complained. Macho Harris could had gone pro, but decided to come back to help the secondary and took reps at wide receiver to help.
Those are the players I respect, because they left their egos at the door, and was team-first. Wyatt is that type of player. He has a learning curve to master, but if he is motivated, indications are he is, then let's just say #Teller4LeftTackle and move on.
I understand your point, and to some extent I think you're right, but at what point do the "needs" of highly touted recruits supersede the overall needs of their respective teams? At some point, we have to stop fueling egos and start instilling teamwork, humility, and hard work. These three traits have been critical to building Hokie football.
Oh yeah, we'll beat Maryland about 27-7 on senior night.
I don't see anything wrong with this team. Great defense and a senior QB, that's a recipe for success. Need the OL to come along and we need time for a WR or two to step up. Edmunds will get every chance to be a bull in this offense, if he holds on to the ball he can put up a season on par with Darren Evans in 2008.
fair enough. as long as he doesnt get behind on learning and improving, have at it.
(as if they need my opinion/blessing.)
You're forgetting our win over Maryland.
Also, not sure how I feel about the idea of this squad being the first to deliver a 12-win season to Blacksburg....
Seems legit, but I'd prefer we beat Miami to prove they still can't beat us back-to-back in the ACC.
I was asked by a fan yesterday on Twitter, who asked a lot of great questions, if I believe this offfense could score on Alabama. I honestly said yes they could.
What I saw on Saturday offered a faint glimmer of hoope that, maybe, just maybe, this offense will be all right.
Yeah, 2013 might not see the return to 10-wins (it could happen), but I do expect to see a steady progress of improvement. I think if the team can stay at 0.500 or better, I would consider it an achievement. Winning the ACCCG would be icing on the cake. Winning a pretigious bowl game would blow out the candles. Winning the National Championship, however remote it seem, would be like a stripper popping out of a cake.
Bama 23VT 7. Not enough offense for VT, but enough defense to force Bama into FG's.
VT 44 WCU 0. Jim Weaver stealing season tix holders $$$.
VT 37 ECU 10. Offense starting to come together, defense setting them up with many short fields.
VT 41 Marshall 7. Ditto.
VT 31 GT 14. Bud all over that option, 150+ yards from Edmunds.
VT 24 UNC 13. Gayle sacks Renner 3x, LT with 3 rushing TD's.
VT 34 Pitt 7. We're due. They lost Shel.
VT 27 Duke 20. Cutcliffe always has a good game plan for Bud. Duke isn't awful this year.
VT 23 BC 10. Tough to go to Boston, LT is loose w/ the ball.
Miami 27 VT 23. Miami has a couple other loses, so we still win the division.
VT 24 uva 6. Offensively they will be a mess by the end of the year.
VT 17 Clemson 14. We can't let Tajh Boyd go undefeated against us.
VT 28 Texas 10 in Orange Bowl. Woody Baron scores a TD on a fumble return.
Sadly, the baseball one was made up and not actually real.
From Andy Bitter's blog earlier today:
But if everything works out and Im good at it, Im going to stay, Teller said. If we need help on the d-line, Ill move there. Wherever coach needs me.
Hope he sorts what he needs to sort out.
Sigh.
Either Hasselback or Harnish
I seem to only remember us winning every ACC game that year
DUDE! I was at that game with my girlfriend for her bday. This happened right in front of us. Pam had to be escorted to the training room
Yes, but comparing where the two teams stand at the moment, it would be somewhat of a shocker to see UVA win that one. I mean with so much #goacc going around though I guess anything can happen.
Agreed. I'd be just fine with 9 wins headed into the bowl game. I actually think this article is pretty fairly written compared to the slop that the Hoo fan wrote a little earlier.
Doesn't seem like this issue has been resolved yet.
Email from #Hokies AD for football ops John Ballein says Corey Marshall will take some time away from team to take care of personal matters.— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) August 19, 2013
Marshall's status with the team will be determined at a later date. #Hokies— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) August 19, 2013
His name's not Sabre, it's Snuggles the WaHorse http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2010/september/8/where-have-you-been-a...
To be fair Miami has found a way to lose to UVA for 3 years straight and 5 of the last 7 years. Kind of like how Florida State kept finding a way to lose to Wake a couple years ago.
Oh my god?! This was written by the giraffe...
whoops, searched "ESPN Bucket List" and didnt see that this topic had already been started:

I shall work on my search skills when I'm done shaking my fist at Weaver
We should consider it. We have depth at DE but almost nothing at DT. I've heard people mention moving some DE to OLB (Dadi) to get the best players on the field, too. I don't understand all the ins and outs of football (I'm just a casual-yet-obsessive fan), and I certainly won't question In Bud We Trust, but adding flexibility into the utilization of our front four (or even front seven!) would surely calm me down.
I really like what he said at the 2:40 mark: "I don't want to [play this year]. I want to learn the plays, become the best offensive tackle I can, but if the chance comes, I'm not gonna say no."
Not sure if this is just him trying to say what he's "supposed" to say, but this sounds very unselfish to me.

LOLUVA has recently been attracting higher numbers of 4 and 5 star recruits but you don't see them having good seasons. Talent has to be coached properly and Beamer is known for making 2 and 3 star recruits look like 5 stars.
