It's still the off-season, so I can't be consider this over-looking VT. However, this motivational ploy may have subliminal consequences on the players, causing them to lack focus against VT. Note to 'Bama players: Keep the hype on aTm, Johnny Football, and forget about those 7-6 Gobblers. Pretty much everyone else in the country already has.
pretty sure the answer is no because he redshirted his first year. pretty sure you can only get a sixth year if you lose two years to injury
So true. Saban will be getting their attention on us leading up to our game, but the 18-21 year old kids are training their attention towards aTm all summer. Gonna be hard for them to change it up if they think that all they have to do is beat aTm and another title will fall in their laps.
I'm also stoked to see what Sam Rogers can do.
I'm worried about the football.....all jinxes off, but I pray that whomever is toting the rock is all about avoiding strips and fumbles. That's why, although I think Edmunds ends up featured, JC gets the nod against Alabama.
Smh. That's not how you do the gang sign...
QB: LT3, ML6.
TB: I like Edmunds to take a more prominent role later in the season, but I think we begin the season with JC starting at tailback. With his speed and agility, he's a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. The main problem he and every other tailback had last year was the inability to make the first man miss, and this caused them to run very timidly (Holmes & Gregory especially). Couple this with very bad interior run blocking on the offensive line, and boom: that's one of the main ingredients to a 7-6 season. The work that JC has put in this off-season has been phenomenal, and if he can get to 190 like he plans, he will have a more successful year at breaking tackles. Keep in mind he was only a true freshman last year, and I think the game experience gained will give him the edge over Edmunds.
I'm not going to jump on the Edmunds bandwagon just yet until I see him in-game vs. a defense that has studied film against him.
FB: Beiro, but Sam Rogers is my pick for the surprise of camp. His history of playing linebacker and read-option quarterback shows that he's an intelligent football player and can carry/catch the ball as an H-back, and this picture demonstrates the fact that he will most likely eat someone at some point on August 31st.

OL & TE: I'm not as seasoned on the intricacies of the big boys, so I'm going to trust you on that.
SE/FL: DJ Coles with Stanford in behind him, and Knowles with Asante behind him. I hope that Caleb can get a lot of PT as a slot receiver because he's physical enough to throw some crackbacks on LBs and, if I recall correctly from his brief WR stints on his highlight tape, he makes a habit of ripping the ball away from defenders attempting to break on it...which is what every quarterback loves more than anything.
Bleacher Report posted this article about the game:

Saban isn't going to over look us. But as a player that most likely doesn't know our history. They'll look at last years record and having that aTm in their faces the whole time isn't gonna help players not look ahead
I think they are all waiting. He has said he will take his officials, so they have plenty of time to change it. Plus, probably waiting for a better prediction after he talks about his officials. If he is beaming about FSU, then they will probably start that shift.
Pretty sure RGIII did not have Microfracture Surgery. That is the big thing with Exum. Peterson came back from normal knee injuries, the micro fracture is a whole other animal and if you rush it, you can ruin your entire career.
Fwiw, the "bad females on the strip" is a good thing; these days bad is a popular slang term for hot, sexy, pretty, etc. The other tweets do suck though.
Edit: This one's not so bad #rbU

Is it possible for Exum to sit this year and take a medical redshirt? I think DJ Coles may have done that last year. Especially if it is only available to make an impact for a quarter of the season.
It is hard not to love a tough, hard working kid who is putting the time in to get himself ready for a great season like Luther Maddy.
Does anyone know if Exum got the same Platement Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment that Peterson and RGIII got? I thought I read that somewhere. If he did, I wonder if he'll be able to push back quickly like them.
After reading all his tweets from the weekend and it's hard to feel great about McKenzie's visit.

@allypoppins I brought my notebook and there are already things I don't like smh
you're also forgetting the fact that Western Carolina's best season out of their last 4 has been 2-9. In FCS. And they haven't won more than 3 games in a season since going 5-4 in 2005.
If we lose to them, we have some major problems. Much worse than the 2010 loss to a team that will not be named, who was coming off a 6-5 season, played in the FCS final four the year before that, won the whole thing in 2004, and had been running off a string of 6 straight winning seasons.
Kenny's my new favorite key player. I'm confused by most of his comments but they all make me laugh.
I dont think it's about Alabama over looking us. Its just to make them angry while they work out. I personally get a better workout at the gym when im stressed or angered about something. Tim smash!
I agree, it seems somewhat odd that they would be focusing on that game right now, especially when they have 2 weeks after our game to prep for it.
I am personally hoping to make it 2-for-2. My only VT game away from Lane was 2010 @ Miami, the game where Logan came in on 3rd and 16 and converted.
Maybe it's more that Saban is demanding perfection and A&M was the only blemish on their season last year? I can't see Saban overlooking anybody. However, the A&M logos on the equipment is kind of overboard if the message is only perfection. Hopefully they are overlooking us and we finally win a game I travel to.
while you do raise a good point, just like Bama is too good not to overlook us, I think were at the point that the seniors remember that week and between them and the coaches who do it wont happen. Plus its not a short week, its the standard sat to sat
It seems to me that these 247 guru's had to make initial picks for recuirts and don't change their pick unless it's basically been decided. Nnadi was thought to be a UVA lean early, hence the % being in their favor. They're all but out of it now, so expect a big swing towards whichever school he's going to pick just before he announces, whenever that may be.
Very cool project- Hope the filmmakers survive the trip.. seriously.
That's a great project. It's kind of similar to the way I feel about the current culture of rap music; I love the art form but most of today's rap just glorifies violence, drugs, and degrading women and people naively support it not realizing the damage it's doing - it makes me sick. Anyway, I wish them luck and I hope the project gets funded.

Why do I think Trey Edmunds is the best choice?
00:05:01–00:05:11
6'2 215. This kind of speed and athleticism. And, he has the best natural feel for when to cut in this zone stretch offense. He was productive against the #1 D with the 2's and 3's in fall practice, and when you see him run in person, he is the "It Factor" guy. He also laid some devestating blocks in pass protection.
